Apple MacBook Air (11-inch, 2011)
The 11-inch MacBook Air has been on a tear ever since it first debuted back in October of 2010, combining a razor-thin design with instant-on responsiveness for an affordable price.
Pros:
- Comfortable backlit keyboard
- Faster Core i5 processor
- Very thin and light
- Flash memory helps machine wake instantly
- Bright display with wide viewing angles
- Thunderbolt support
Cons:
- Below-average battery life
- Starting configuration has only 64GB of storage
- No SD card slot

- lacks SD card slot
- we're not sold on Thunderbolt yet

Like a great bottle of wine Apple's MacBook Air line has only gotten better with age. The first generation failed to compete in sales with the MacBook and MacBook Pro, primarily because of its poor price-to-performance ratio.

Apple MacBook Air 11 (2011)
Last October, Apple's 11-inch MacBook Air debuted. The tiny, slim ultraportable was the smallest laptop Apple had ever made. Its combination of size and power earned it a four-star review, with caveats: it had a last-generation Core 2 Duo processor, lacked a backlit keyboard and omitted an SD card...
Pros:
- Dramatically faster than last year's version
- Backlit keyboard
- High-speed Thunderbolt I/O port
Cons:
- Entry-level Air still has the same limited fixed flash storage and RAM as last year's version
- Still no SD card slot
- Ethernet port or 3G wireless option
