Apple MacBook Air 11-inch (2011) review

You don't have to love Apple, or even like it, to have a deep appreciation for the new generation of MacBook Air. The two models, of 13- and 11-inches, are the most visually impressive and delightful laptops on the market.

  • Beautiful
  • sturdy
  • powerful
  • light
  • great battery
Cons:
  • 11-inch is a little too small
  • no SD card slot
  • limited ports
  • gestures can be irksome
  • OS X isn't as perfect as Apple thinks

Apple MacBook Air 11 (2011)

Last October, Apple's 11-inch MacBook Air debuted. The tiny, slim ultraportable was the smallest laptop Apple had ever made. Pros:
  • Dramatically faster than last year's version
  • Backlit keyboard
  • High-speed Thunderbolt I/O port
Cons:
  • Entry-level Air still has the same limited fixed flash storage and RAM as last year's version
  • Still no SD card slot
  • Ethernet port or 3G wireless option
