I thought long and hard about this lens compared with the 85 1.2 and in the end frugality won out. This lens is OUTSTANDING for the price. It's light, fast (fast focussing too) and produces great results.

One of the best lens that must have. Perfect for everything kind of clicks...
It is a very good lens which can be used to shoot the beautiful face
it is a new one and with very good color
just a little AF shift but my carmera can adjust it
I have wanted this lens for almost two years, it was worth the wait. I am not a professional by any means but this lens is great. I use it for street photography and have taken the best photos of my life
Lens is great and lives up to everything the reviews said. In this case, the kit was added for the same price so even though the kit quality is so-so and several of the items (usb and bag) shown in the picture didn't come with my kit, the fact is I would just end up throwing them in my junk drawer,...
This is a well-priced lense that according to online image samples is one of canon's best for portrait photography. It has imperceptible differences with the L-version, enough to make this lense well worth the price for quality and value for money. It's the cheapest @ kalahari.

"I got this lens 3 months ago and since then i has been my go too. I use it mostly when i do automotive photoshoots because of the feel and tone the lens gives too an image. Great depth of field, great subject isolation, great bokeh.
My first primes lens was the nifty fifty (50mm 1.8) . I absolutely loved it. My next lenses had to be the 85mm 1.8 lens. I read the reviews and decided to get it. Wow! This lens is so sharp and focuses very accurate and quickly. Now given...
Fast auto-focus; Superior build quality; Super-sharp images
An outstanding portrait lens for Canon shooters on a tight budget, or even those who can afford anything. Not as beautiful as the 85/1.2, but smaller, lighter and quicker handling.
Fast f/1.8 maximum aperture; good bokeh; sharp from corner to corner; fast focus; cheap
Bokeh not as smooth as the pro lenses; plasticky build
