Canon EOS R5 Body With EF Adapter EOSR5BB-AD review
The Canon EOS R5 is Canon's flagship full-frame mirrorless camera, with class-leading video specifications, as well as impressive stills performance. For stills photography, it does not offer the highest resolution (that goes to the A7R IV) but does offer plenty of resolution.
Pros:
- Excellent image quality
- High-resolution electronic viewfinder
- Great vari-angle touch-screen
- In-body image stabilisation (IBIS)
- 8K 30fps / 4K 120fps video
- Dual slots
- CFexpress / SD
- Very good handling and controls
Cons:
- Noticeably shorter battery life with EVF
- Video recording limits and "cooldown" periods
- Limited compact lenses available

Pros:
- Superb 45MP full-frame sensor, Fast, accurate autofocus, Subject tracking at up to 20fps, Big, brilliant EVF, Swing-out touch LCD, 5-axis IBIS, CFexpress and UHS-II SDXC card support, 8K and 4K video look great
Cons:
- Video record time limited by heat, Expensive CFexpress memory required for some features, Battery life could be better, Lens system still has some room to grow, Priced higher than competitors

I have a lot more testing to do for my final EOS R5 review, but first impressions are certainly looking very strong indeed. Canon really does appear to have put everything into this camera with the minimum of caveats other than an understandably high asking price of around 4 grand.

Further, we’ve experienced overheating across the board with Canon, Sony, and Fujifilm when shooting videos. But the cameras have never shut down on us. Practically speaking, you’re just not going to keep shooting video. You’ll give the camera a break and go do something else on set.
