Pros:
- Stills are absolutely gorgeous, incredible autofocus, and solid in-body image stabilization
- Can shoot 8K30 and high quality 4K30 10-bit video buuuut…
Cons:
- The high end video modes cause the camera to overheat and it takes a million years for it to recover
- video settings are wonky
- dynamic range leaves a little bit to be desired.

I really did like the EOS R5, despite the overheating problems, because it suited my style of shooting. For $3,900, it’s the only pure high-megapixel hybrid camera that does photography and video equally well.

Canon EOS R5 review: An absolute powerhouse
This full-frame mirrorless camera is an absolute powerhouse, delivering top image quality, autofocus and in-body stabilisation performance. There are some hiccups with high-end video recording overheating, the body-only asking price is high, and the competition from Sony is strong. All said, though, the R5 is the go-to model in this line-up, improving upon the company's outgoing DSLR series and showing that you're in very safe hands indeed.
Pros:
- Supreme autofocus modes - the tracking for humans/animals is impressive
- 12fps mechanical burst
- Super-detailed 45-megapixel images
- In-body image stabilisation is excellent
Cons:
- Overheats in high-end video modes - will limit in-camera record time
- Easy to move focus point by accidental screen touch
- It's obviously pricey
- CFexpress card adds to cost
