Canon Ixus 115 HS

It's not easy to make a mid-range camera stand out from the competition, and yet the market for £150 to £200 cameras is key to many manufacturers' success.
Pros:
  • High-quality build and materials used
  • Good picture quality up to 800 ISO
  • Good picture quality at telephoto settings
  • 1080p HD video mode with sharp picture quality
  • Easy to use
Cons:

  • Low-def screen
  • Flat buttons set flush into the casing aren't always practical

The PowerShot ELPH 100 HS ($199) is the entry-level model in Canon's stylish and compact ELPH lineup. It's the follow-up to the PowerShot SD1300 IS, which came out on top in our 2010 Budget Camera Shootout .

Canon is the best of the best

Photo quality is amazing (Like ALL Canon cameras), it has hundreds of settings and features. Definitely the best camera for the price! I suggest an 16GB or higher SD card, because you will not want to put this camera down, so much fun to use!

Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS Review

Check out my full review of the Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS (also known as the IXUS 115 HS). The camera is the most affordable ELPH in Canon's 2011 camera lineup but still packs the same 12 megapixel CMOS used in more expensive models, a 3 inch LCD and Full HD 1080p movie mode.

  • 3 inch display is low in resolution and it shows
  • No optical zoom and continuous AF while recording movies
  • No automatic ‘sweep' panorama mode
  • No high-speed burst mode at full-resolution
  • Slight color fringing and prominent...

Canon IXUS 115 HS

Looking for an uncomplicated snapshot camera that will slide easily into a top pocket to be carried around at all times and whipped out when that random photo opportunity presents itself?
Pros:
  • Good value given the build
  • feature and performance
  • large LCD screen
  • better than expected noise-free results at higher light sensitivity settings
Cons:
  • Nothing much in the way of manual control
  • lack of any handgrip at all
  • familiar budget digicam bugbears such as pixel fringing

Canon Ixus 115 HS review

CANON Digital Ixus 115 HS - silver

I looked long and hard for a digital camera that had both excellent quality in taking stills and shooting HD video. I wanted these features, but in a camera that was compact enough to fit in my pocket (otherwise I knew it wouldn't get used as much) while I was out and about.
Pros:
  • Price
  • quality-of both stills and Full HD video
  • compact size
  • ease of use
  • design/style
Cons:
  • Can't think of any
