Canon PowerShot G7 X III review: the compact camera that lets you broadcast to the world
The Canon PowerShot G7 X III is a compact, well-priced camera which offers very good image quality, a fast lens, good ergonomics and the ability to stream live video straight to YouTube. Its lens isn't super-sharp at wide-angle, video autofocus is so-so, and live streaming is difficult to get working, but overall, it's a good value for the money and well worth considering.
Pros:
- Those seeking a pocketable camera with a versatile lens that will perform better in low light than a typical compact. Vloggers.
Cons:
- Action and landscape photographers. Those who want an EVF for shooting outdoors.

Canon G7X Mark III Review
The G7X Mark III is a great little camera with bags of features and charm. It's a pocket-friendly shooter with a one-inch sensor, great image and video quality, and a host of features that appeal to both stills and video shooters. At £700 it’s not cheap, so if you’re on a budget, check out the older model if you don’t need the advanced video features.
Pros:
- Great video features
- Pocket friendly
- Manual controls and Raw format shooting
Cons:
- No viewfinder
- 4K not available in manual/semi-automatic modes
- No hotshoe or cold shoe for external accessories
- No headphone socket

Tempting with mic jack + clean HDMI for occasional lecture recording and faster RAW shooting I have finally upgraded from my favorite pocket camera to it's 3rd generation. Here are my observations after couple of days.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III review
The PowerShot G7 X Mark III faces some strong competition from the likes of Sony and Panasonic, but with a longer-than-usual lens, great handling and a whole suite of niceties for videographers, it succeeds in offering enough to warrant its place in a populated section of the market.
Pros:
- Great handling and build quality
- Effective face detection
- Responsive and clear touchscreen
- Mic port is a very nice touch
- Very effective image stabilization
- Nice colors in images
Cons:
- No hotshoe for external mics
- No built-in viewfinder
- Slightly aggressive noise reduction
- AF system a little dated
- Overexposure frequently occurs
