Good photos, but real drawbacks

After much research, I bought this camera to use on an Alaska cruise. It is lightweight, easy to use in Auto mode and takes high-quality photos with a nice zoom lens. But the touchscreen menu is insanely complicated if you go off "Auto" mode and the booklet that comes with it is of minimal help; a...

The camera I always have with me

I was looking for a camera that I could carry all the time, but would be better quality than my phone. I tried various others, decided a one inch sensor was minimum, and the Canon G9X is the smallest body with this sensor size.
Pros:
  • Great Picture Quality
  • Lightweight

Small but powerful point and shoot camera

Got the G9 to replace similar Sure Shot Canon camera. Smaller than I thought but nice feel. Used Canon app for remote control with smart phone, works great as remote control of camera and image review. Have not used RAW format yet but regular JPEG and RAW can be recorded at the same time.

Compact & Excellent

I bought this a few weeks ago. I was tired of carrying my big DSLR and lenses and wanted something compact that would do the job of my big camera. I am so pleased with this purchase. It is easy to use and you get the Canon DPP software which is excellent. I am very happy with this compact.

So I asked for this camera for Christmas instead of a new Iphone, mainly as a pocketable walkabout and for family snaps. After I read the DPReview review, I was apprehensive. The lens in that review certainly appeared soft, in contrast to other reviews by Imaging Resource and Cameralabs.

Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Review

The PowerShot G9 X Mark II is a pocketable camera that packs a 1"-type sensor and 28-84mm equivalent F2.0-4.9 lens. On the surface it offers good build quality, a broad feature set, an intuitive touch-based interface and excellent connectivity. However, its lens is very soft, which greatly affects image quality, and battery life is poor.
Pros:
  • Everyday point-and-shoot photography
Cons:
  • Sports and action, portraiture, long excursions.

The PowerShot G9 X Mark II is the second generation of Canon's entry-level 1"-sensor compact camera, and the company has made some nice improvements over the original mode. Burst shooting and buffer size are much better, the UI is a bit snappier and battery life has improved a bit.
