Google’s Pixel 7A Raises the Bar for Sub-$500 Phones

This is just about all you need in a phone, and it costs less than $500.
Pros:
  • Great performance. Excellent camera system. Nice 90-Hz OLED display. Premium build quality (and fun colors!). Wireless charging support. IP67 water- and dust-resistant. Three OS upgrades and five years of security updates. Tons of helpful software smarts.
Cons:
  • So-so battery life. Finicky fingerprint sensor. No headphone jack or microSD slot. No charger in the box. Small price hike over last year.

After some battery wobbles that had me temporarily concerned, I've quickly come to regard the Google Pixel 7a as the best affordable phone you can buy right now. It's got the power, the cameras and the looks to impress.
Pros:
  • Performance capability well beyond its price point, Great camera improvements for this generation, Android software just runs best on Google
Cons:
  • Battery life isn't great – and charging rather slow, Pricier and chunkier than its predecessor, Screen is fairly heavy on bezel

Great big small phone. With the release of the Pixel 7a, Google have updated and improved on their mid-range series - not only in terms of processor choice, but also with brand-new features.

The Pixel 7a is the best $749 you can spend on an Android phone

If you're going to buy any Google phone in 2023, it should probably be the Pixel 7a . It's substantially cheaper than its flagship counterparts and comes with an almost identical set of bells, whistles and AI-enhanced smarts.

  • Compact form-factor, Standout camera, Premium perks and features

  • Some might prefer a bigger screen, No expandable storage, No telephoto lens camera
