HTC One V review

The performance per pound level of the HTC One V can't be faulted. As a mid-range smartphone, it's best in class, just beating the Nokia Lumia 710 as an all-rounder and offers build and style that the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus just can't manage.
Pros:
  • Sleek unibody design
  • Fun camera control functions
  • Free 25GB Dropbox storage
Cons:
  • 4GB storage
  • No physical control for camera
  • Could be more responsive

HTC One V

Designed as a less powerful platform than the One X and One S, the One V is the budget model in HTC's recent One series. And in this range, cheaper means smaller.
Pros:
  • Hardware / design / finishing
  • Good screen
  • Battery life
  • Good photo quality for the price range
  • Video player
Cons:
  • Storage space
  • Video rendering

Review: HTC One V

The phone's 3.7" screen has pixel dimensions of 480x800, with pixel density being 252 ppi. The screen is bright and offers wide viewing angles. Display sharpness and color reproduction is also reasonably good. However, the panel's sunlight legibility and contrast ratio could have been better.
Pros:
  • Pleasant ICS experience
  • Feature packed camera
  • Impressive design
  • Bright display
Cons:
  • No front-facing camera

Among the three HTC One series of smartphones, the One V is the second one to come to India. Along with the big brother, the One X. There is unfortunately, no sign of the One S yet, however, it is expected to be launched in India in the not too distant future.

  • Aluminum unibody is rare in this price category
  • Built well
  • Surprisingly crisp display
  • Decent performance
  • Android ICS out of the box
Cons:
  • Disappointing camera
  • Slight niggles with glass around earpiece

HTC One V Price is India is 19,999 INR, making it one of the most affordable options, offering quite an exciting range of features in return such as BSI sensor and ICS. However, in the competitive world of today, we may soon have others with a slimmer body, better features and a better price to...

Excellent value

I had the LG Optimus Elite before switching to the HTC One... the difference is like night and day. It's hard to believe Virgin only spaces them $50 apart. The LG is an embarrasingly bad phone, while this one is the first prepaid phone I've had that I felt like I didn't have to make excuses for -...
Pros:
  • Great screen
  • fast processor
  • lots of onboard memory
Cons:
  • Gets a little warm

Since the One V is on the ‘lower' end of HTC's lineup, the specifications are not too impressive but at the same time will provide a decent level of performance.

The 1GHz processor clearly isn't up there with the very best of them, but we found it perfectly acceptable to work with. More irritating, perhaps, is that there is just 4GB of built in storage, though a microSD can be used to add more so even that is not a disaster.

HTC One V review

HTC was a little known company in the UK until it made a big splash with some of the early Android smartphones. The HTC Hero and HTC Legend were both trail-blazing devices, and many of us here at Expert Reviews bought one or the other.

HTC One V

The HTC One V hasn't had the same degree of attention that the One X or the One S have. As such, it's at risk of becoming the "other" phone, the one that gets ignored. But picking up the design of 2010's HTC Legend and offering a device for those who can't take the size of the larger brothers, the...
Pros:
  • Compact
  • nice design and construction
  • latest software
  • microSD card slot
Cons:
  • Old hardware means it's a little slow
  • some missing features could have been incorporated
