Huawei Nova 5T review: Another mid-range marvel
If the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro wasn't on the scene, I'd be singing the praises of the Nova 5T from the rooftops. The difference between the two phones is subtle, but in our tests, the Huawei was always slightly behind in almost every area.
Pros:
- Good screen for an IPS
- Great photos in low light
- No notch (but a lens hole in the screen
Cons:
- Performance lags behind Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
- Lacks telephoto camera
- Not an AMOLED screen

Huawei Nova 5T Purple 1102700037 review
The Nova 5T is a must-consider in your list of mid-range smartphones, we say ignore the Google Issue as the Nova 5T is surely in the list of Huawei surely to get updates in the future.
Pros:
- Kirin 980 Processor – No jokes about the processor, fitting the 5T with a flagship processor is ridiculously crazy but makes everyone especially techies love the Nova 5T
- Dual Glass + Metal Body – Sorry OPPO, Vivo, Samsung, only Huawei was able to be the metal body smartphone at this price point.
Cons:
- No Gorilla Glass – Huawei didn’t disclose the glass they are using for the 5T, upon check checking its not Corning Gorilla Glass
- IPS Display – Visual wise, the IPS panel is simply no match with an AMOLED display.

The Huawei Nova 5T is a mid-range smartphone featuring a quad rear camera with a 48-megapixel main optic, super wide-angle camera, macro camera and depth assist camera. There's a 32-megapixel hole-punch camera on the front, built into the 6.26-inch screen.
Pros:
- Good suite of photo modes
- Pro mode gives full manual controls
- Snappy in use
- Night mode produces great images
Cons:
- Images are soft close-up
- Struggles to focus close-up
- No OIS

With good looks, quad camera prowess and solid performance, the Nova 5T represents great value for a smartphone in 2019. It packs in a lot of high-end features for its modest price tag, but Huawei has cut corners to make that happen.
Pros:
- Great quad-camera
- Large display in a small form factor
- Great value for money
Cons:
- No wireless charging
- No headphone jack
- Screen is only LCD

Huawei Nova 5T review: Mid-range device, flagship level performance!
So, overall, I really liked the Nova 5T. The design is good, the cameras are good, and the phone is, well, really fast. The only thing I wished this phone had is an OLED display because it's the closest competitor, the K20 Pro and Vivo V17 pro have OLED displays.
