Huawei P40 Pro review: Breaking Point

The Mate 30 Pro was the phone with the camera so good it was almost worth considering leaving the Google ecosystem to have but the P40 Pro can’t even manage that. No.
Pros:
  • - Superb camera
  • - Premium design
  • - Simple 5G
  • - 3D Face Unlock!
Cons:
  • - Deeply compromised software experience
  • - NanoMemory still sucks

Huawei P40 Pro Review - Smartphone with an impressive camera

With the P40 Pro, Huawei has once again released an excellent camera smartphone and most likely even... Trumpled to death? In our review, the Huawei P40 Pro presents itself as a great piece of hardware not least due to the fact that it is equipped with the best smartphone camera out there. We expected nothing less. Unfortunately, the ban from Google services makes a clear recommendation difficult. Read on to find out which users should still consider the Huawei phone and what drawbacks need to be taken into account.
Pros:
  • spectacular camera setup
  • color-accurate 90-Hz OLED display
  • fast Wi-Fi 6 and 5G

  • supports hybrid SIM and eSIM
  • very good call quality
  • USB 3.1 with HDMI/dP
  • IP68-certified
Cons:
  • no DRM certification
  • no aptX or aptX HD
  • display could have offered more brightness reserves
  • no Google services
  • weak speakers
  • no barometer

Huawei P40 Pro Silver Frost 1102700047 review

Huawei P40 Pro review

A superb follow-up to one of 2019's best smartphones. The Huawei P40 Pro improves in every area, offering top-tier performance and networking, superb battery life and fast charging, a stupendous camera setup on both the front and back, plus that eye-catching 90Hz 'Overflow' display. Despite how capable this phone is, however, the absence of Google Mobile Services makes this a poor recommendation for anyone other than die-hard Huawei fans and the tech-savvy. Those just looking for a great flagship phone, will probably prefer the ease of hopping onto one of the new Galaxy S20 series or Oppo's Find X2 Pro.

Huawei always seems to raise the bar when it comes to smartphone photography every year with the release of its new P-series flagship, and this year is no exception. While the P40 Pro isn’t as revolutionary as say, the P30, the refinements in the tech from the display, the camera and the processor...
