I would buy this product again and again
I find this DSLR camera small and light for carrying everywhere. It is 16MP and that means there can be huge portraits or landscapes without any difficulty. The auto focus is great and it is now my favourite.- Good Sized Screen
- Nice Features and Settings
- Rugged
- Easy To Use
- Fast Shutter Speed
- Excellent In Low Light
- Good Battery Life
- Great Resolution
- Bad Battery Life
Great Value
Great DSLR. I love the articulated viewing screen and that there is live view. There are lots of great features that make this a nice step up from my older Nikon DSLR. The video feature is neat, though it does not focus as well as when using the DSLR for photos.
Nikon D5100 + AF S VR DX 18 55 mm + AF S VR DX 55 200 mm: Wow what a great sharp picture
Used this for a family shoot today with great results. So easy to point and click but the results are truly excellent. The pictures are sharp and the colors truly vivid. The controls once you have got used to them are pretty intuitive though mostly I use the auto settings.
It's a great camera...
I bought my Nikon D5100 last October, and it was my first major purchase. I had used my parent's DSLR in the past but was ready to upgrade, and get my own. I was torn between this and the Canon Rebel, but I decided to get the Nikon because I already had a Nikor lense from my parent's camera.- Reliable Viewing Screen rotates Easy to use and understand Easy to change lenses
- Photos not as sharp as Canon ones
Its a Nikon
All I can say is plan for the future. If you are going to keep using a DX and never plan on upgrading to a FX, you can not lose, period. When you do plan on upgrading every thing you have lens wise will work on any Nikon D series.- Name says it all
- I have owned Nikon camera's from the late 70's to now
- I purchased this camera to see if I still had the passion for photography I use to have, I do
- I selected the D5100 because it was cheap and had great reviews.
- The *only* con that I would report would be somewhat limited total control
- But I know this going in, so it's not really a con
Fantastic Camera!!!!!
Fantastic Camera!!! Easy to use, right out of the box; in automatic modes. But, also has many advanced features that would make any advanced photographer happy! I especially love the variable position monitor: it makes it extremely easy to shoot pictures at floor level, or to shoot down on a...
Great store to buy from. Great camera
I'm a serious amateur photographer of over 15 years, shooting both large format cameras and a wide variety of 35mm slr cameras. This camera is a great mid-range camera in the Nikon line-up. The controls are easy to manipulate and most importantly the camera makes incredible photos.- Easy To Use
- Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus
- Fast Shutter Speed
- Good Image Quality
- Great photos
- High ISO Performance
- Large Clear LCD
- Tilt /Swivel LCD
- Buttons On Some Functions
great camera
photos really pop, shine, however you describe it, nikons in general have excellent image quality. not very good battery life, buy another battery or two. auto focus is kind of slow and squirrely, build quality is cheap but great pics.
"Excellent Camera for Video/Picture"
This is a great camera loaded with some great features. I have to admit I used the camera mainly for video recording (Ill get into that later), but every aspect is great. My Experience With it Video I saved up my money and bought this thing as an upgrade for my current equipment.- Video Features
- Good Picture Quality
- Low-Light
- Some lacking essential Video Controlls
Great for real beginners, but you're better off with a general DSLR book about photography.
It's a thick book, with high quality photos for a very low price. Buts, it's very long winded on the very basic stuff so it's geared at someone who's starting point is learning to push the shutter button halfway.
