Nikon D5100 review
Although DSLRs are becoming increasingly complex and feature-rich, manufacturers are trying to make them easier to use. Nikon has been at the forefront of this development, over the last six months we've seen the Nikon D3100 and now it's bigger brother the Nikon D5100.

Could be better
Whilst this camera does everything it says on the tin there are certain aspects that one would expect to be better from a product bearing the name Nikon. Other than having a greater pixel count and Live View it seems to perform little better than my Pentax K10 from which I have updated.

Great value for money
Great camera for the money, exceptional image quality. The flippy lcd is great for shots at awkward angles and for getting pinpoint focus with macros. Very wide dynamic range and great hi ISO perfomance. The liveview implementation is lacking especially if you try and shoot manually, the focus...

Great camera, some limitations
I've had the D5100 for a year or so and so far I'm happy with it. This is my first DSLR. The pros: - It has the same sensor as the D7000 - Produces 14 bit RAW files (a luxury for this price in my opinion#. - Exceptional image quality and dynamic range. - Performs amazingly well in low light.

Purchased this camera for vacation in Seattle. More than did the job. Most photos I took were through glass, such as the aquarium or zoo, and it looked as though there was no glass. Stuck to auto mode but it got the job done!

- Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus
- Fast Shutter Speed
- Good Image Quality
- Good Image Stabilization
- High ISO Performance
- Large Clear LCD

Nikon D5100 DSLR Review
The Nikon D5100 is the manufacturer's latest edition to its consumer DSLR lineup. Replacing the D5000, the camera sits neatly inbetween the entry-level D3100 and the high-end D7000. The camera is clearly aimed at attracting enthusiasts who have outgrown their basic entry-level DSLRs.
Pros:
- Excellent image quality
- Articulated LCD screen
- Sophisticated AF system for the price
Cons:
- Odd placement of some controls
- Movie mode is inconsistent
- and prone to "bugs
- Sluggish AF in Live View and Movie Mode

- Good Image Quality
- Good Image Stabilization
- Easy To Use
- High ISO Performance
- Large Clear LCD
Cons:
