Nikon Z FC review
If you are buying your very first camera with interchangeable lenses, the Nikon Z fc is a solid choice. It will take excellent, perfectly exposed pictures in nearly any situation. And it will earn you some oohs and aahs because of the cool retro styling.

Nikon Z fc (Review Nikon Z fc)
A retro exterior turns heads, but there's nothing special inside
Pros:
- Beautiful vintage aesthetics, Visible, discrete control dials, 11fps burst rate and 4K30 video, Articulating LCD, Large, sharp EVF, Dust and splash protection
Cons:
- Clumsy tracking focus interface, Omits headphone jack, 8-bit video format, No in-body flash

Nikon Z Fc review: Retro reinvention
We thought this retro camera was going to wow us. Instead it's rather proven that sometimes ideas from the past are best left there. Clearly there's future potential here, but the lens range needs to further develop before there will be the maturity that could allow the Fc to proudly hang its hat on the Nikon FM2 of years past.
Pros:
- Fairly priced entry into Z mount
- Decent image quality potential - if you invest in the right lens
- Retro dial-based controls
Cons:
- Plasticky build quality
- Slow kit lens doesn't represent camera's true capability
- Autofocus not a patch on Canon's EOS R
- Not full-frame - just to avoid any doubts

Nikon Z FC review
The Nikon Z fc is good for travel photography. It's lightweight and easy to travel with, though it lacks a handgrip and isn't the most comfortable to use for long periods. Its overall image quality is excellent, with very solid low-light performance for an APS-C sensor.
Pros:
- Excellent image quality., Great autofocus., Fairly portable.
Cons:
- No handgrip., Mediocre battery life.

Nikon Z FC review
Almost identical to the Nikon Z50 internally, the Nikon Z fc produces the same excellent image quality with noise controlled well up to ISO 6,400. However, its handling is quite different as it has shutter speed, ISO and exposure compensation dials which are combined with a PASM exposure mode...
Pros:
- Retro styling, Traditional exposure controls, Vari-angle touchscreen
Cons:
- No Auto setting on the ISO or shutter speed dials, Traditional exposure controls combined with PASM exposure mode switch, No joystick for setting the AF point

Nikon Z fc review
The Z fc isn’t a cutting-edge camera – you’ll find more advanced features and better performance on similarly priced cameras from Fujifilm, Panasonic and Sony – but it doesn’t disgrace itself at all on the image quality front. At the same time, its retro styling gives it a personality and appeal that far outstrip that of the Z50 with which it shares so much, and the various vlogger-focussed touches show that, despite the old-school looks, this is a camera designed for today’s multi-disciplined users.
Pros:
- Striking old-school looks
- Great autofocus performance
- Useful flippy screen
Cons:
- No in-body image stabilisation
- Not many retro-style Nikkor lenses (yet)
- No headphone input
