Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-70mm Lens VOK060XA review
The mirrorless Nikon Z 6 II offers small yet tangible updates to its predecessor, but it doesn't match the improvements in autofocus we've seen from competing systems.- 24MP full-frame image sensor
- 5-axis in-body stabilization
- Phase detection autofocus
- Up to 14fps continuous drive
- Dual memory card slots
- Strong 4K video toolkit
- Raw video requires paid firmware upgrade
- Limited third-party lens support
- Full-frame 4K limited to 30fps
Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-70mm Lens VOK060XA review
One of the most capable full-frame mirrorless cameras on the market. It's got the lens mount right, the quality right and, despite strong competition and not being a big upgrade over the original, the Z6 II is exceptional in many areas.- Great image quality
- Huge potential from new Z mount lenses
- Fast autofocus/burst mode (14fps)
- Silent shooting possible
- Electronic viewfinder is of great quality and scale
- Highly capable autofocus system
- Continuous autofocus still outsmarted by some competition
- Not a full vari-angle screen (it's tilt-angle only)
- Stronger battery life would be great
- Mild improvements over original 18-month-old Z6 model
Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-70mm Lens VOK060XA review
However, it’s not quite up to snuff for the most performance-intense genres like sports or moving subjects in low light such as theatre and wedding receptions. It’s not a bad buy for portrait photographers, but artists working with moving subjects may end up with a case of buyer’s regret.

Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-70mm Lens VOK060XA review

Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-70mm Lens VOK060XA review
Like the Nikon Z6, the Z6 II, offers great image quality, and great handling, but with added "oomph" as well as the convenience of an SD card slot. Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-70mm Lens VOK060XA review
Dual card slots, dual processors, 14fps shooting and eye AF for humans and animals in video mode might not be enough to tempt existing Nikon Z6 users to upgrade but they keep Nikon right in the heart of the mirrorless camera market.- High-quality sensor
- Excellent user interface and control layout

Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-70mm Lens VOK060XA review
The Nikon Z 6II and Z 7II are very effective improvements on the original Z 6 and Z 7. The sensors, AF points, build and handling are largely unchanged, so you probably wouldn’t pay swap an existing Z 6 or Z 7 for these, but for anyone new to the full frame mirrorless market, these two cameras are...- Controls
- handling and ergonomics
- Continuous shooting performance
- 4K 60p video (soon
- for the Z 6II)
