Nintendo 3DS XL – bigger display or what should you know before you buy it

Nintendo may have had our childhood or that of our kids but they haven't been doing very well these past few years. Last year's attempt to penetrate the portable gaming industry was a flop.

Nintendo 3DS XL

Tweet When we first got some brief hands-on time with the 3DS XL a few months back, it was a bit of love at first touch. Having played with it considerably more since then though, the first love has become a full blown love affair. The reason, in part, however, has remained the same: namely because...

The 3DS XL isn't readily available in stores yet in this country. Data Blitz has some units for sale, but they're the European version. Thankfully they include a free charger with the price, which isn't too far off from the listed overseas retail-P10,500.
Pros:
  • Great
  • big screens
  • Better
  • sturdier
  • more attractive case
  • Better designed and relocated buttons
  • Better stylus placement
  • and better stylus
  • Better battery life
Cons:
  • Still got underpowered cameras
  • Lousier
  • weaker speakers
  • Still no second analog stick

This 3ds xl is much better compared to the normal 3ds with a bigger screen and better 3d graphics. The upper part of the xl is kind of shaky and unstable but otherwise it is a good device compared to the normal 3ds.

Nintendo 3DS XL review: bigger is better, but it's still not quite enough

After playing with the 3DS XL, we returned to the original only to find it difficult and awkward to use in comparison. The new size is an improvement in so many ways, including ergonomics and playability.
Pros:
  • Bigger screen improves the 3D effect significantly
  • Improved battery life under some conditions
  • More comfortable to hold and use
Cons:
  • Digital content still lacking
  • No secondary analog stick
  • Not the most powerful of handheld hardware

Nintendo's New 3DS XL has more in common with existing 3DS systems than it might want to admit, but it's still a solid upgrade option for older 3DS owners. It's been a while since I'd laid down any cash on a new Nintendo portable.

New Nintendo 3DS XL: Australian Review

I've never been one for mobile gaming. Not on a phone, not on a PS Vita , or on a 3DS. Then the so-called New 3DS from Nintendo came along and showed me just how good it could be.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL is better than its predecessor in just about every way. Taken alone, any individual improvement would seem minor when compared to the original 3DS XL hardware, but together they represent a worthwhile upgrade that improves the overall user experience significantly.

If you've never owned any iteration of the Nintendo 3DS, you've got a staggering backlog waiting for you. The hardware sports three of the best Zelda games ever made , a charming and hopelessly addicting rural life sim , a deep and compelling strategy RPG , the two most recent, stellar Pokemon games...
