The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom boasts a telephoto camera to rival the P30 Pro and a pivoting pop-up selfie camera that catapult it into the flagship big leagues
Oppo has delivered a well-rounded and exciting new flagship that doesn't do as you might expect. It has the potential to take on some serious camera phone contenders too.
Fantastic triple camera; Impressive battery life; Great performance;
ColorOS is still awkward; No wireless charging; No water resistance;
The wow factor starts from first impressions. The "true" full screen design, as Oppo calls it, catches the eye with its simplicity, sans any ugly notch or even pinhole camera cutouts.
The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is a strong option for smartphone shutterbugs and a solid phone for everyone else.
Excellent cameras; Solid performance; All-day battery life
No wireless charging; Lacks official durability rating; Choppy UI
That's a small blot, though, on what is otherwise an excellent all-round smartphone. The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom can't compete head to head with the superb Huawei P30 Pro on outright camera quality, and its software installation is bloated with unnecessary extras, but we still prefer it to the OnePlus 7...
Gorgeous design; Big; notchless display; Good quality 48MP images
No IP rating; No 3.5mm headphone jack
Oppo may not be the best-known smartphone brand in the UK and Europe, but the Chinese company was number five in IDC's latest ( Q2 2019 ) tally of worldwide shipments, behind Xiaomi, Apple, Huawei and Samsung.
Excellent triple camera system with 10x zoom; Clever pop-up front camera; Top-class CPU and GPU performance; Good battery life; Minimal-bezel OLED screen
No IP rating for dust/water resistance; No wireless charging; Relatively bulky and heavy
A Huawei P30 Pro with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will cost you £899, and while Oppo's Reno 10x Zoom can't quite match the P30 on photography, it gets pretty close -- while offering excellent value for money at £700 for the 8GB/256GB model.
Excellent triple camera system with 10x zoom; Clever pop-up front camera; Top-class CPU and GPU performance; Good battery life; Minimal-bezel OLED screen
No IP rating for dust/water resistance; No wireless charging; Relatively bulky and heavy
If you don't mind the lack of storage options, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom provides great cameras, strong performance, and a simple but distinctive design inside and out.
Excellent zoom-lens photography, Long battery life, Pop-up camera means no notch or punch hole spoiling the display
Screen is flat and dim, Hard to buy in U.S., Handset is large and heavy
The Oppo Reno 10x zoom is a great phone I recommend it
The Reno 10x Zoom the is the first Oppo device we’ve reviewed here at AnandTech, and frankly I wasn’t too sure what to expect going into this review. The one aspect where the Reno 10x does stand out in is its design.
