I bought the Samsung DV300F about 8 months ago now after my previous Samsung decided one day that it wasn't going to retract its lens (I had worked it very hard, clocking up well over 15,000 photos in the 2 or so years I'd had it).
Pros:
  • Cheap
  • easy and fun to use
  • good range of features available
Cons:
  • Poor distance shots indoors in evenings

Samsung DV300F review Review

On the whole, the DV300F performed well in my tests. I've criticised its choice of aperture in some instances and its minor chromatic aberration in others, but these only become an issue when examined in isolation -- something that's easier to do when a 16-megapixel frame lets you examine such a...
Pros:
  • Creative filters
  • Video mode
  • Small size
  • Image quality
  • Front-mounted screen
Cons:
  • Slight chromatic aberration and pin-cushion distortion
  • Some surprising aperture choices

Samsung DV300F

At first look, the Samsung DV300F's ($199.99 list) front LCD makes it stand out from the crowd, but the camera's most impressive feature is its Wi-Fi sharing capability. It allows you to transfer photos to your smartphone, post directly to social sharing sites, or transfer them to a PC-all without...
Cons:
  • Waxy images at middling ISO settings
  • Sluggish performance
  • Short zoom range
  • HD video capture limited to 720p.

Samsung DV300F

Pleasant aesthetics, a low price and the front-mounted LCD screen are the main drawcards for the Samsung DV300F. We'd recommend spending a tad extra to get a whole lot more elsewhere, and relying on your smartphone for self-portraits.
Pros:
  • Self-portrait screen is handy if you're into that sort of thing
Cons:
  • Smartphones are great for self-portraits
  • Image quality could be better

light and decent quality, but tricky to use

This camera is an attractive little piece of equipment. I have always been a fan of Samsung's aesthetics and they didn't disappoint here. The DV300F is matt and gloss finish, is lightweight and fits easily in to the pocket. It has a generously sized LCD screen, making for easily taken pictures.

Samsung DV300F review

Compact fully automatic cameras with 5x zooms are commonplace and, some would argue, are in the greatest danger of being made obsolete by the smartphone. Luckily then compact and slender Samsung DV300F pocket camera offers a bit more than most comparable sub-£200 snapshots, like some of those found...
Pros:
  • Slim profile
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • High-res 3-inch backscreen
Cons:
  • Softer images on high ISOs
  • Mic picks up operational noise
  • Not Full HD video
