Samsung Galaxy S22 ULTRA 5G (256GB, Burgundy) AU - Excellent review
Ultimately this feels like a year of consolidation, and while the final product is of a high standard, we hope that the Galaxy S23 Ultra brings some refinement and direction to this new Ultra–Note amalgam.- Excellent Super AMOLED display, Brilliant camera with outstanding zoom potential, Integrated S Pen unique among flagship phones
- Disappointing battery life, Note-like design feels somewhat regressive, Software a little laggy
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Review Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra)
A Galaxy Note by any other name- S Pen integration, Long battery life, Bright screen, Excellent reception in low-signal environments
- Very large, Expensive, Back scratches easily, Few camera improvements over predecessor
Galaxy S22 Ultra reviewed in 2023: Is it worth buying close to the S23 launch?
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is an important smartphone because it announced a big change in Samsung's product strategy. But that also makes it a transitional, middle-of-the-road smartphone that stands on solid ground but innovates very little. One year later, is it still worth buying?- Excellent 120Hz QHD+ display, Very elegant sleek and square design, More consistent S Pen integration, Still the champion when it comes to versatile photos, Unrivalled Android update policy
- Disappointing Exynos 2200 performance, Poor battery life, Fast recharge is not fast enough and the $60 charger is not included, Expensive price, Basic 8 GB RAM/128 GB storage configuration is too limited
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra initial review: Ultimate reinvention?
The Ultra is a total departure for the S22 series, integrating an S Pen stylus, which makes it a lot like a Note that never was. Many features aren't hugely different to the outgoing S21 Ultra, however, but this handset is all about refinement - from that punchy curved edge display to the distinctive rear cameras arrangement.- Hugely bright and punchy screen with adaptive refresh
- Distinctive camera design is eye-catching - wholly different to other S22 models
- Integrated S Pen stylus - the software and response is super
- Not everyone will want the built-in S Pen stylus - this is S series not Note
- No microSD card expansion
- Many features of minor difference to S21 Ultra
- Expect a big price tag

Samsung Galaxy S22 ULTRA 5G (256GB, Burgundy) AU - Excellent review
Samsung has been leading up to this moment since the introduction of the Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, which just so happened to be the final in that series. They’ve worked to separate the “Ultra” line of devices from others in the family, in hopes to sell them as a separate...
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra review: Ultimate reinvention?
The Ultra is a total departure for the Galaxy S22 series, integrating a little S Pen stylus, which makes it rather like the Note that never was. Many features aren't hugely different to the outgoing S21 Ultra, however, but this handset is all about refinement - from that punchy curved edge display to the distinctive rear cameras arrangement - and there's no denying the quality of the cameras on offer here.- Bright and punchy screen with adaptive refresh rate
- Distinctive camera design is eye-catching - and it's very capable too
- Integrated S Pen stylus is great (but not everyone will use it)
- Battery life is questionable
- Software not entirely bug-free
- Not everyone will want the built-in S Pen stylus - this is S series not a Note after all
- No microSD card expansion
- Pricey
