Big problem
If you change lenses frequently (as I do) and happen to put this one back in your bag without first attaching the rear lens cap, the rear glass is very easy to scratch as the glass protrudes beyond the lens mount when lens is set to infinity.
Pros:
- Captures nice images
Cons:
- Fatal design flaw

Great cheap lens
This is a very nice lens for the price. Heaps cheaper than a nikon comparable product, nice and sturdy and produces nice bokeh at open aperture.

I bought this lens with the intention of photography active toddlers and doing some night shots. It delivers that and more. Images are very pleasing and same with the bokeh. It's my favourite prime so far (tried Canon's 50mm f/1.4) and highly recommend it.

This is one of my favorite lenses!! I love how fast the lens is and how close you can get to things. The images are amazing!!

Pretty good for the price
If you don't know what you're talking about, don't review products, especially if you claim to have a high level of tech knowledge. Earwigy's criticism that the "depth of field is pretty bad" is a ludicrous statement. Without picking hairs, all f/1.4 lenses will have the same depth of field.
Pros:
- Relatively inexpensive, extremely fast prime
- Autofocus is internal, pretty fast, and quiet
- A little soft wide open, but sharpens up quickly as you stop down
- Nice bokeh
Cons:
- A little soft wide open
- If you upgrade to full frame, the lens is usless

Sigma 30mm F/1.4 EX DC HSM Macro Lens for Canon
Perfect lens if it focused properly out of the box. Lens has a little front focus on my Rebel t3i. Sent to Sigma for calibration with camera body still waiting for it to return. Otherwise good quality lens.

Great F.14 lens at this price range!
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Pros:
- Great solid heavy build
- Nice Bokeh
- Smooth and weighted focus
Cons:
- Corner Sharpness

The Sigma 30/1.4 DC HSM is capable of yielding impressive results, as long as focusing is accurate. Center sharpness was good even wide open and vignetting was well controlled. Distortion was low and chromatic aberration, though present, was again well controlled.

great bokeh from this lens, i use this lens only for low lit videos, as it is not useful for any kind of photography. stars are streaks not points. portraits are distorted, not wide enough for landscape, AF is too horrible for fast motion. do not buy this lens unless you find it under 300 dollars.
Pros:
- fast and quiet HSM AF
- focus ring feels smooth and heavy, solid build
- 30mm wider than canon 50mm
- F1.4 is amazing bokeh
- sharp at the center f1.4 to f5.6 ....
Cons:
- terrible AF accuracy
- weird 62mm front
- abysmal corner to corner even stopped down to f8
- noticeable distortion
- massive color fringing, vignetting at all apertures
- EX speckle finish disappears fast with use
