The new Sigma 70-200mm/f2.8 APO DG HSM with optical stabilizer (OS) is an updated version for the popular fast 70-200mm zoom. For the first time from a third-party lens supplier, a 70-200mm, f/2.8 zoom has optical image stabilization.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO review by kinematic
My second Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 and now with OS (Image Stabilized). Sigma made some really important and necessary improvements. I loved the previous version but there were some issues with micro contrast and slight CA. But it was such a tremendous value.
Pros:
- Image Stabilizer
- Fast Aperture
- Comparable quality to Canon and Nikon equivalents
- Quick Release Tripod Ring
- Large Zoom Ring
Cons:
- Noisy IS which takes a second or two to activate
- heavy
- not weather proofed

I purchase this Sigma 70-200mm lens as a replacement for my Canon 70-200mm lens without stabilize capabilities. WOW, what a amazing lens, on my first day of purchasing it I went out to back country National park area,I guess I can call it my lucky lens.

Good quality/price
Produces great colours and the focus is pretty fast, however can be a little inaccurate or miss read the subject. at 2.8f the background blur is beautiful! I would definitely recommend this as a economical option to the Nikon version with cost double.

Great lens
I wanted a nice F2.8 70-200 lens every since my son was on the wrestling team and the low light of the gym made a lot of my pictures grainy. I did my research and narrowed my choices down to the Canon L series F2.8 70-200 IS II and the Sigma F2.8 70-200 with OS.
Pros:
- Lower cost than Canon lens
- 4 year warranty
- awesome pictures
Cons:
- High cost

In terms of overall performance there's no beating the Canon and Nikon 70-200mm lenses. They do the best job of focusing on fast-moving subjects. However, this Sigma isn't too far behind when it comes to tracking movement.

Rugged is better than light and cheap!
Lens is a little heavy, but better that cheap, light weight plastic. Lens is used mostly for shooting indoor concerts & sporting events and seems to fast focus very well.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Rugged
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Heavy
