SEL 50f18 OSS

"Excellent glass for a great price as it has built-in image stabilization. Extremely sharp, even with Precision Digital Zoom (PDZ) option selected at 3X on my NEX5N - in such mode, PDZ allows me to shoot at an equivalent focal length of 225mm. Excellent bokeh (f1.8)at the 225mm equivalent.

Very good lens

Probably a little over priced despite having the built in image stabilization. But otherwise, it is a very sharp lens. Fast focusing and unlike legacy lenses it is actually made for the E-mount which means auto focus and internal aperture control with the steadyshot.

Lovin' the features and the photos!!

I'm new to this type of lens, but it is awesome for outdoor shots, specifically when taking "targeted" shots. It is easy to adjust the BOCA for professional looking photos. The lens works great in all light conditions.

Great Lens

This is much better then the kit lens in sharpness and details. I would buy it again.
Pros:
  • The f1.8 lets in a lot of light
  • That makes the lens very fast to focus in normal light
  • Great for portraits and flower shoots with tight depth of field
  • Very sharp lens
  • In manual focus on the a6000 it is unbelievable focus control on Zoom
Cons:
  • It is prices
  • Fixed focal length

Great Lens

When I purchased this lens I was still kinda debating if this lens is really worth it. Because I already have a 30mm f1.4 lens that I really used but when I tried using it, it surpasses my expectations the picture quality is really nice and sharp!
Pros:
  • Light weight
  • captures sharp shots and good picture quality
Cons:
  • None

Excellent lens

I read all the reviews before purchasing this lens. Originally I thought of buying the 35mm Sony OSS lens which was recommended as more useful for general all round photography. Whilst I agree for indoor photography and tight spaces this lens is probably too much it is however super for portraits.

great lens at a good price

This is a remarkably good lens for the price point. Coupled with the mirrorless Alpha body, beautiful low light photos are a breeze

Amazing value for money

After frustration from the kit lens in achieving those creamy bokeh portrait images, I figured I needed this lens. Best decision ever. For this reduced price you're getting some quality glass that has sharp focus, super crisp images, is incredible in low light, and gets those creamy bokeh shots for...

The lens is used on my Sony a6000 the pictures are outstanding, Colors are bright and vibrant, no signs of any distortion, great for low light situations, sometimes slow to focus but a very good lens.

What autofocus issues

I think the bad autofocus reviews reallyexaggerate. Using eye AF on A7RIII the focus is spot on almost in all shots, and theres almost no hunting. Stopping down the lens a little improves IQ significantly. Im super happy with the results I got mainly from shooting at F2-F2.8.
