Sony E 50mm f/1.8 OSS (SEL-50F18) - Review / Lens Test
The AF performance is very good for a contrast detection system (albeit highly dependent on the base camera). AF operations are basically noiseless. Manual focusing works "by wire" so the focus ring is not directly coupled to the focus gears but to the AF motor.

Sony FE 50mm F1.8 Lens - Brand New review
If you are more apt to take portrait-style photos, then this is the lens you’ll want. And it might just be the solution you are looking for if you want to take those kinds of photos with professional quality.
Pros:
- Easy install and cleaning, Compatible with most cameras, Excellent, Does a good job at shooting at various angles, Great in both daylight and low light conditions
Cons:
- Focus is slower than expected, Not suitable for video function on most cameras, Some say the quality is average and not so much beyond that

Good build quality with great low light capability and priced low
Low price, high quality bokkeh, great low light, optically stabilized, shipped fast and feels well built. Fast auto focus works well on my Sony A5100 and A6500 cameras. Take a bit getting used to having to stand back a bit more than the 35mm f1.8 sony but otherwise takes excellent portrait shots...

Good value for the price!
I bought this lens a couple months ago and i happy with it because I'm using it for product pictures with static scenes. The only complaint i have is the focus delay.. Its just to much to take picures like in a weeding or for people that need a rapid response on their photo.

Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 Review
Most camera marques now have an inexpensive 50mm lens in their ranges. These are often described as "nifty fifties" or "plastic fantastics", the implication being that they are cheap and cheerful, but often superb performers as well.
Pros:
- Excellent central sharpness
- Low central CA
- Very easy to use effectively
- Direct manual focus feature
- No flare issues
Cons:
- AF slow
- Visible edge CA
- Fairly soft edges

New Sony FE 50mm F1.8 Lens review
The Sony 50mm FE retails for $250 and can regularly be found with Sony rebates for $200. The plastic build is about what you would expect at this price point, but the optics and image quality has shown me that this lens can punch above it’s weight when called upon.
