This is easily the best lens I've purchased. The IQ is second to none. I was torn between the Batis and the Sony but most reviews said the Batis only has the OSS advantage and the electronic features. Since my camera has IBIS I chose the Sony and I do not regret my choice.

Worth every penny!
Absolutely worth every penny! I have purchased the f1.4 G master prior to purchasing these and I'm glad I returned the g-master and got these instead! Price is very reasonable and the quality of shots from these is outstanding! If you thinking of purchasing these lenses, don't! BUY THEM!
Pros:
- Price
- size
- sharpness
- f1.8 and focal length
Cons:
- NONE

Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 ( SEL85F18 ) - Review / Test Report
Recently we reviewed the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 - as it turned out it's quite an awesome lens. However, the Zeiss lens isn't alone in its quest - it has a couple of Sony mates. There's the insanely expensive 85mm f/1.4 GM and a more mainstream option which we'll discuss here - the Sony FE 85mm...

Sony FE 85mm f/1.8
The Sony 85mm f/1.8 is a very competent, lightweight and affordable portrait prime lens for the Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras. This compact optic delivers excellent sharpness in the centre of the frame almost throughout its aperture range, even performing well wide-open, although you'll need to...

Sony FE 85mm F1.8 Review
The Sony FE 85mm F1.8 is an affordable lens in a focal length ideal for portraits. Images are crisp, with pleasing blurred backgrounds when shot at a wide aperture. Full-frame Sony mirrorless photographers have a wide range of prime lens options in the short telephoto range, but most of them carry a premium price tag. The FE 85mm F1.8 comes in at an attractive $599.99 cost compared with premium options like the $1,200 Zeiss Batis 1.8/85 and $1,800 Sony FE 85mm F1.4 GM, both of which have earned Editors' Choice honors. The FE 85mm F1.8 captures images that are sharper than the Batis, albeit with a stronger vignette and without in-lens stabilization. It's half the cost, so we're giving it the same rating and Editors' Choice honors. Design The FE 85mm ($549.67 at Amazon) is a squat, compact lens, measuring in at 3.2 by 3.1 inches (HD) and tipping the scales at just 13.1 ounces. Its black barrel is aluminum with a knurled focus ring. A lens hood is included—it reverses for storage—and the front element supports 67mm filters. The squat, light lens balances quite well on the a7R II. Like other FE lenses, the 85mm F1.8 covers the full-frame sensor ...
Pros:
- Bright f/1.8 aperture
- Extremely sharp
- Dust and moisture resistant
- Short telephoto focal length
Cons:
- Omits image stabilization
- Strong vignette at wider f-stops

Sony FE 85mm F1.8 Black Lens - Brand New review
Sony recently launched its FE 85mm f/1.8 to much fanfare. Eager to test its performance vs the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8, The Camera Store sent two of its photographers to Thailand. On a trip to Sony’s Thai factory, The Camera Store took some time to shoot with both portrait lenses to see if the Zeiss...

REVIEW: Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 Review
Sony introduces the FE 85mm f/1.8 lens, a lower cost option for the full frame FE series. This new lens is suitable for the A7 series of full frame mirrorless cameras, and of course can also be employed on the APS-C models, where it gives a "35mm format" equivalent of 127.5mm.

Sony FE 85mm f1.8 review-so-far
The Sony FE 85mm f1.8 is a short-telephoto prime lens for Sony's mirrorless cameras, and corrected for use on full-frame bodies. Also known as the SEL85F18, the FE 85mm f1.8 was launched in February 2017 as an affordable and light-weight portrait prime lens, at least compared to the high-end FE 85mm...
