Sony Xperia U review
It is hard not to be impressed by the Xperia U's screen resolution or by Sony's efforts to squeeze in a dual-core processor. But on the other hand, Sony's failure to allow for memory expansion and the old hat Android 2.3 are downers, and overall the handset is a bit too small for my liking.
Pros:
- Distinctive design
- Sharp if small screen
- Capable processor
- Front camera
Cons:
- No memory expansion
- A bit too small overall

Sony Xperia U review
The Sony Xperia U sits at the cheaper end of Sony's range of Android smartphones, using similar styling to the much larger Xperia S and the slightly larger Xperia P and Xperia Miro , setting it apart from Sony's rounder phones, including the rugged Sony Xperia Go and budget Xperia Tipo .

S.U.P. Sony-This U is for Me!
I bought this mainly as a second phone, to keep my Sony SmartWatch going when I'm packing my Nokia. But I keep swapping SIMS cards out and using this my daily driver. Smooth, responsive, the Xperia U has absolutely everything you need. Screen is gorgeous for such a cost-effective resolution.
Pros:
- Perfect size
- cool camera effects
- eye-catching style
Cons:
- Not Ice Cream Sandwich yet
- but you won't even notice

Sony Xperia U review
The Xperia U is the final piece of Sony's NXT series puzzle. In March came the flagship Xperia S, a good device that shipped with outdated software. It's only just been updated to Android 4.0 . Our verdict? It's not thinner, faster, stronger, or in any other way better than the pack.
Pros:
- Dense
- bright display
- Snappy
- agile performance
- Enduring battery life
- Great call quality
Cons:
- Ships with Android 2.3
- not 4.0
- Chubby design feels a little awkward
- LED lights not for everyone

Sony Xperia U Android phone
The Sony Xperia U is an entry level model targeted at pre-paid users. When you consider its price, the overall package of excellent build quality, good battery life and intuitive software represents good value. There are a couple of drawbacks, the main one being a lack of memory, but if you can get your head around that, the Xperia U offers excellent value for money. Sony's Xperia U may be the baby of the company's new NXT series of Android phones but it certainly doesn't look out of place among more expensive alternatives. A compact design, good build quality and a functional user interface are only let down by a lack of internal memory and an older version of Google's Android software.
Pros:
- Good build quality
- Intuitive user interface
- Decent battery life
Cons:
- Limited memory
- Occasionally sluggish
- Outdated Android software

Identical to other Sony phones, the software suite offers manipulation of focus, white balance, ISO and geotagging. It is also possible to launch the camera software directly even when the phone is locked by directly pressing the camera key.

Sony Xperia U review
The Xperia U is one of the best smartphones we've seen for under £200. For this price you get a capable handset providing higher performance than some more expensive rivals – all with a fantastic screen and a two-day battery life.

Sony Xperia U
When it was launched last year, the Xperia U was a favourite among the Expert Reviews staff; its slim, compact design and high-density screen made it a pleasure to use. It was also a bit of a bargain SIM-free.

FANTASTIC PHONE
I absolutely love the Experia U. It's simple to use and a great size. It is my first Smart phone and I can highly recommend it for ease of use, good design and price.
