Great External hard disk with size, design, software tools. Even after using it for extended hours, HD is not heating. Pretty cool with this. I am little disappointed with the USB 2.0 transfer speed. It is around 25 MBPS which is lesser than my older HD. But other than everything is great with this.
Transfer rates stayed the same with the installation of the SmartWare software, though the user experience decreased. If you don't install it, every time you connect the drive the software will mount and ask to be installed. This was extremely annoying.

Western Digital's range of USB powered external hard drives - like the My Passport Ultra for instance - are fantastic options for affordable, portable storage… for your average consumer anyway.
