Better design, a better display and all the power you’ll ever need make the iPhone 12 a marked improvement over the already great 11 - but don't buy it for 5G
Pros:
- Stunning to look at and impressively light in the hand
- Finally an OLED display for the non-Pro iPhone
- 5G future-proofed
- Brilliant
- versatile camera system
Cons:
- We’d rather have a telephoto than the ultra-wide
- 5G may be here
- but most people won’t find much of it yet
- Battery life decent rather than brilliant

Apple iPhone 12 (256GB, Black) AU - Pristine review
Even without the third camera, there’s a lot to like about the iPhone 12, which offers some handy little improvements on the iPhone 11, a phone that stays in the 2020 Apple line-up. The two cameras have been tightened up and feel better than last time, and the whole phone is faster overall.

In a very Samsung-esque style this year we saw Apple announce four new models of the iPhone 12 at one time. Only two are available for purchase now, with two more coming this month.
Pros:
- Gorgeous flat glass OLED
- Flat matte edges
- Vibrant blue color
- iOS 14 with Android elements
- 5G
- Loud stereo speakers
Cons:
- Volume buttons tough to feel
- Rather expensive

- but not-quite-the-same models
- AT&T and Verizon 5G underwhelms
- Charging and power adapter situation is confusing

- Small and lighter than iPhone 11
Cons:
- More expensive than iPhone 11 was
- Average battery life
- Only a dual-lens camera
- 60Hz screen
- Face ID-only isn't ideal in masked times

Apple's iPhone 12 is probably the one you should get. Save that $200 and put them towards some cool accessories.
Pros:
- New design is pretty and compact
- OLED screen
- finally! MagSafe is cool and has potential
- Outstanding performance
- One of the best cameras on a smartphone
Cons:
- No charger
- no headphones in the box
- 64 GB of storage is fine
- but feels a bit stingy in current ecosystem
- No telephoto lens
- No ultra high refresh rate
