Apple iPhone 13 5G (256GB, Midnight) AU - Pristine review
Unlucky number? Doesn't matter! The 13th generation of one of the mainstays among smartphones is now once again trying to appease Apple fans and convert Android disciples. To accomplish this, it features a new processor, longer battery life and sensor shift image stabilization.
Pros:
- very bright OLED display..., ...with excellent color accuracy, sharp pictures with good contrast, one of the fastest smartphones, good battery life, wide variety of accessories available, good signal strength, fast Wi-Fi
Cons:
- display limited to 60 Hz, mediocre sound at maximum volume, no macro lens, case noticeably warm under load, wide notch

The iPhone 13’s brighter display, longer battery life and powerful cameras make it the best iPhone for the money. But we wish it had faster charging and the iPhone 13 Pro’s adaptive 120Hz display.
Pros:
- Brighter display, Great cameras, Compelling Cinematic video mode, Class-leading performance, Very good battery life
Cons:
- Lacks 120Hz display, Slower charging than rivals, Cinematic mode capped at 1080p

Even though the iPhone 13 is very much an incremental step forward, it includes useful new features like a more powerful processor, the excellent Cinematic video mode and a brighter display.
Pros:
- Still a great all-around smartphone package, Includes most of the 'Pro' series' best feature, Design still looks great
Cons:
- No 120Hz display, Camera improvements are marginal, Not much of an upgrade over last year

Time to upgrade.
Pros:
- Impressive cameras. 128 gigabytes of base storage. Longer battery life on the full-size model.
Cons:
- Battery on the Mini is a bit weak. Otherwise there’s not much to dislike.

In my opinion, the iPhone 13 is a bigger update to the series than the iPhone 12 was. The iPhone 12 represented a major design update, and one that I’m glad has stuck around. But the iPhone 13 offers improvements where it really counts — the battery, and the camera.

Apple iPhone 13 Pro review: The best of the best
I’ll say it upfront; the iPhone 13 Pro is the new iPhone model you should buy if you can afford it. Unlike last year’s iPhone 12 Pro, it has all the same capabilities as the larger Pro Max model. You’ll remember that last year, the 12 Pro Max had bigger camera sensors, giving it better lowlight performance and 3x optical zoom, rather than 2x. Not so this year. The iPhone 13 Pro has all the guts of the 13 Pro Max (aside from battery capacity and screen size, of course) without busting your hand or your wallet. Add into the mix the powerful A15 Bionic processor, 120Hz ProMotion display, battery life that can last almost two days, and excellent camera performance, and you get the best iPhone 13 model in the entire lineup. The iPhone 13 Pro I reviewed came in gold, which isn’t my color of choice, but you work with what you have. Cons:
- No USB-C
- Not all third-party apps are optimized for higher refresh screen
