iPhone 4S review
Reviewing the iPhone 4S is in many ways a lot like reviewing the original iPhone 4, except that it's not. The device, which was just announced at a special event on Apple's campus, is very much the same phone the company released in June of 2010 - but it's also something completely new.
Pros:
- Camera is stunning
- Retina Display is still best in class
- Siri software is incredibly cool and surprisingly useful
Cons:
- iOS is beginning to show its age
- Improved 3G speeds don't seem very improved
- especially compared to LTE devices
- Glass and metal design is beautiful
- but easy to shatter

Some will still consider Apple's iPhone the benchmark for today's smartphones, but its revised design raises issues we haven't seen in a phone of this calibre before. Those upgrading from an iPhone 3G would be wise to consider a 3GS instead.
Pros:
- The much-discussed antenna issue
- Design lacks the ergonomics of previous models
- Not a substantial performance bump from 3GS
Cons:
- Zippy 1GHz processor
- Retina display is razor sharp
- One of the fastest cameras we've seen in a phone

iPhone 4 Review: All the upgrades, same shortcomings
The iPhone 4 is a great device. Objectively there is simply no denying that it's a solid piece of hardware backed by good software. The screen clarity is brilliant, the touch screen response without equal and everything about the device polished.

Apple iPhone 4S Review
While we have a hard time recommending an upgrade for current iPhone 4 users, the new additions prevent the iPhone from becoming antiquated in a quickly churning smartphone market.
Pros:
- Ultra-capable camera
- Siri voice assistant is handy

- HSPA+ delivers speed boost
- Same gorgeous Retina display
- Solid
- attractive design
Cons:
- Still nowhere near 4G LTE speeds
- No expandable storage
- replaceable battery
- Fragile glass back necessitates case

Although it's not perfect, the iPhone 4S is the best smartphone we've seen yet with a great screen, high-quality camera and a slick user experience thanks to iOS 5 and a broad selection of apps from the App Store.
