Apple's flagship iPhone has been updated and upgraded bringing with it a new design, new features, and new excitement. With the rest of the year's smartphones laid out - except the next Nexus - this is the time for the iPhone to reassert itself against competition that's stronger than ever.
Design; build quality; 4.7-inch screen; faster processor; Apple Pay; iOS 8; camera
No wireless charging; no waterproofing; battery still not great
If you are an iPhone user, and you specifically want an iPhone to be your next smartphone, the iPhone 6 is great, but of course the iPhone 6s is even better. It's going to come down to budget ultimately, as the iPhone 6 is a brilliant iPhone that'll save you a few pennies if you're set on getting an...
It's a brave new world for Apple's larger iPhone, and it's much the better for it
With its bigger screen and software overhaul, the iPhone 6 is the freshest feeling iPhone in years
Immaculate build; Gorgeous; colourful display; Speedy in use
No full HD screen; Expensive; No waterproofing
For years, Apple held onto the smaller 4-inch screen size despite the growing popularity of 5-inch+ Android phones. The release of the iPhone 6 is Apple's white flag in the small screen department.
Improved processor performance; Good battery life; Excellent contrast and color reproduction; Fast auto-focus technology
Screen isn't full HD; Large bezels around screen
Apple's change to its juggernaut smartphone is here, and it's not just a number change with a fingerprint sensor. This time, the iPhone includes a bigger screen, faster processor, and a new design.
A bigger iPhone; yay; Built beautifully; almost like the iPod Touch as a phone; Reachability (double-tap home) is a neat idea for larger phones; Fast 4G speeds; Finally; 802.11ac is here; Excellent rear camera; iOS 8 now lets you exchange and replace keyboards; With Mac OS X 10.10 "Yosemite," you...
Screen is larger; but not really a huge improvement; Fixed storage with no way of upgrading; Expensive; Slippery; Hand-hold for thumb at the bottom is a bit of a balancing act with a phone this size; NFC can't be used with pretty much anything; Quite a few iOS 8 bugs; Mediocre battery life
After years of mocking rivals for producing ever-bigger screens, Apple finally caved in this year, introducing not one such model, but two: the iPhone 6 with a 4.7in screen, and the iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5in screen.
In the iPhone 5 review, I remember writing that, "As Android manufacturers continue to flood the market with absurdly large phones, it's good to see Apple Think Different." Not any more though, as Apple has changed. It's no more a company under Steve Job's leadership, that did things differently.
Great user experience; Premium metal body; Sleek design; Excellent sound output; very good camera; Long battery life; Excellent for gaming; Rich App Store
Lacks mass storage mode; Supports few video formats; Lacklustre maps; Lacks FM Radio; Reachability feature is stupid
Apple iPhone 6 is 4.7-inch display device running on latest iOS 8. It is packed with A8X chip with 64-bit architecture and 1 GB RAM. The device is equipped with dual cameras. Apple iPhone 6 is available from $199, supports only Nano-SIM. Apple iPhone 6
