Apple iPhone SE review
The iPhone SE may be small, but it's proved to be one of Apple's most powerful handsets. The 4in screen will be too big a down-size for many, but those in the market for a pint-sized, affordable smartphone will struggle to find anything better.- Great performance
- premium design
- latest version of iOS
- decent display
- surprisingly good battery life
- market-leading camera
- Poor front-facing camera
- 16GB storage option
iPhone SE review: Small is still beautiful (video)
Apple's return to small 4in devices with the iPhone SE was a surprise, but a logical development too. Crucially, personal devices are all about choice and the iPhone SE is essentially the engine of the iPhone 6s in a smaller package.
iPhone SE review: it's a pocket-size powerhouse
The SE is the little iPhone that could. With a 4in screen and the body of an iPhone 5s, it fits in my pockets better than my iPhone 6s, and it's easier to use one-handed. But it doesn't compromise much over its bigger, more expensive siblings.
Apple iPhone SE
Apple's iPhone SE isn't initially impressive. As a hodgepodge of other iPhones without any new technology, it's hard to get too excited about it. Our thoughts leading up to the announcement were generally that this new iPhone would be a great iPhone for late upgraders.- A smaller, lighter iPhone
- Reasonably priced
- Users with smaller hands should find it easy to use
- Familiar 5s design is still an attractive winner
- Upgraded internals (A9, M9, 2GB of RAM) allow phone to leap past the iPhone 5s and compete with the iPhone 6/6 Plus - it's faster than you might...
- Smaller phone means smaller display
- Not introducing any new technology
- No 128GB option, and we wouldn't recommend the base 16GB option to anyone at this point
- No 3D Touch
- Outdated FaceTime camera
- Onscreen keyboard harder to use for those with larger hands
- Slower Touch ID.
The Apple iPhone 5S, iPhone SE and iPhone 6S take a dip in this , which one survives
While Apple has never said that any of their iPhones are water proof or water resistant, on occasion, some iPhones have taken a splash or dip and survived. ZachStraley decided to put the Apple iPhone 5S , iPhone SE and iPhone 6s to the test, by dunking all three in water for an extended period of...
Review: Apple's 4" iPhone SE is better than we deserve
We think most users will have a love-it-or-hate-it reaction to the iPhone SE -either you prefer the smaller 4-inch screen size, or you're willing to sacrifice one-handed use for a bigger and more impressive display on the iPhone 6s.- Speedy A9 CPU and high-quality 12MP camera are high-end
- The iPhone 5s design never went out of style
- Ultra-long battery life in a compact size
- Plenty of cases and accessories designed for 5/5s still fit
- Starting price of $399 is outstanding
- No 128GB storage option
- Slower Touch ID
- lower-res FaceTime camera
- and no 3D Touch
- Screen isn't as bright or crisp as iPhone 6s
Apple's iPhone SE Review Roundup
Apple's new smaller iPhone has launched today, the handset comes with the power of the iPhone 6S in the smaller form factor of the iPhone 5S and there are already iPhone SE reviews from various sites.
Apple iPhone SE Review
Apple's iPhone SE is the best 4-inch smartphone you can buy, period.- Just as powerful as the iPhone 6S
- Cheap for the specs
- Superb camera
- Cute
- retro design
- Easy to hold and use one-handed
- 4-inch screen is really small
- Must pay extra $100 to get enough storage
- Selfie camera is low resolution
Review: Apple iPhone SE
Some things are just better bigger. Televisions, hotel rooms, border walls (supposedly), paychecks, wine glasses, hands, and one or two other things I won't mention that come up very quickly when you Google "bigger is better." Oh, and phones.- You can't beat the hand-feel of a smaller phone
- The SE's battery life is shockingly great
- There's plenty of power, plenty of camera inside this body
- Some website and app designs are leaving small screens behind
- The SE is no movie screen, and it's sure not VR friendly
- Your selfies will look worse, and your touches will be less 3D
iPhone SE review: today's tech, yesterday's design
Earlier this week at Apple's campus in Cupertino, the company announced a brand-new iPhone. The heavens didn't part, pop bands didn't play, and people aren't camping out at Apple Stores to buy the thing.- Fast
- Long battery life
- Great rear camera
- Relatively inexpensive
- Starts with only 16GB of storage
- Lacks a few iPhones 6S features
- Design not updated from iPhone 5s
