Apple iPhone X

While the original iPhone had no viable competitor (the LG Prada was close, but no cigar), it managed to rewrite the rules of what modern smartphones should be.

iPhone X review: Apple's Face ID vision for the future of iOS

Apple's iPhone X introduces the next decade of iOS. It pairs an advanced, full-face display with a strikingly beautiful glass and steel design. It invents new multitouch alternatives to the Home button and introduces an advanced TrueDepth 3D camera system, fast Face ID authentication and futuristic...

iPhone X Review: This changes everything

Over the past few years I've openly cheated on my iPhones with Android and, on few occasions, with Windows Phone. Moving forward, as much as a serial cellular cheater can, I can see myself being monogamous with the iPhone X.
Pros:
  • New OLED display is beautiful
  • Bezel-less design makes a big screen usable
  • A11 Bionic processor is screaming-fast
  • TrueDepth camera could be a game-changer
Cons:
  • It's expensive
  • Face ID has a learning curve
  • The 'notch
  • Apple repairs are more expensive than any other iPhone

Review: iPhone X

The iPhone X is not the phone of the future. It could be, someday, if Apple's right about augmented reality and the power of a great camera. But for now, the iPhone X represents Apple's most ambitious attempt ever at making a phone absolutely seamless.
Pros:
  • Gorgeous design
  • Face ID is a great idea, mostly well executed
  • Lots of cameras, all of them excellent
  • It's faster and smoother than whatever phone you're using now
Cons:
  • A grand is a lot to spend on a phone
  • Apple's love of simplicity sometimes makes everything more complicated
  • Goodbye, stealthy phone-checking

Apple iPhone X

The iPhone X, rather like the original iPhone that launched 10 years ago (hence the use of the Roman numeral for 10 rather than the letter X), is...
Pros:
  • Powerful processor
  • Superb screen
  • Impressive camera
  • Excellent apps and features
  • Beautiful design
  • Lovely build quality
Cons:
  • The 'notch
  • Pricey

The iPhone X is the most radical change to the iPhone formula ever, and despite some concerns, Apple has built a seriously impressive machine. We love its build quality and comfortable design, not to mention its expansive screen and great performance.
Pros:
  • Impeccable build quality
  • Face ID generally works well
  • Great performance
  • Good main cameras get even better
Cons:
  • The lack of a home button takes some getting used to
  • Not all apps use the whole screen
  • Portrait selfies are hit-or-miss
  • Battery life could be better

2017 marks the tenth anniversary of the iPhone. What I remember most about the first iPhone was my sense of astonishment. Sure, it had its flaws, but I felt like I was holding the future of computing in the palm of my hand.
Pros:
  • Gorgeous OLED display
  • Face ID works better than expected
  • Excellent photo quality
  • Greatly improved processing speed
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Mixed results with Portrait Lighting
  • Extra caution needs to be taken with the all-glass design

Apple iPhone X

I came home late from my first day of testing the iPhone X. My wife sent me audio clips over iMessage from the kids after I sent them pictures of myself, now beardless. "O-M-G. I can't even recognize Daddy!" I couldn't recognize myself either.
Pros:
  • A great blend of handheld comfort and a big, gorgeous OLED screen
  • Rear telephoto camera outshoots the 8 Plus in low light, and the front camera snaps impressive portrait selfies
  • Face ID generally works fine
Cons:
  • New interface and no home button mean major adjustments, and key features such as the Control Center are harder to reach and use
  • It'll take time for most apps to be optimized for notched screen
  • The phone is hella expensive, and the all-glass design means a case and an insurance plan are musts
