Apple iPhone XS

Apple's latest iPhones are now available . Or, at least two of them are. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are here, but we're still waiting on the iPhone XR , a lower-priced version coming later in October. That's right: Apple's split the iPhone X lineup this year into three offerings .
Pros:
  • The iPhone XS has a markedly improved dual camera, delivering better photos than the iPhone X in both dark and high-contrast environments
  • It has a faster processor, faster face ID, adds dual SIM support and it's now available in gold and 512GB versions
Cons:
  • Its battery life is the shortest of the three new iPhones and only incrementally better than last year's
  • Despite its still-rich price tag, key extras such as increased storage, USB-C fast chargers and headphone dongles will have you spending even more

iPhone XS review: There's nothing excessive about Apple's latest and greatest smartphone

Apple's new iPhone XS is a modest step up from last year's iPhone X, but remains a major technological leap forward for anyone who hasn't yet made the jump to the edge-to-edge design with Face ID.

iPhone XS review

The iPhone XS is the least dramatic of Apple’s 2018’s iPhones. It’s not ultra-big like the XS Max. It’s not a brand new line like the XR. This is the iPhone X, with some new bits crammed-in. However, there’s enough going on here to make it a significantly better mobile than the iPhone X. Namely, it can take better pictures and there’s more power on tap. Sure, almost every iPhone XS owner will wish it had better battery life at some point. But that’s nothing new for previous owners of standard-size iPhones. Huge thank you to Mobile Fun for tbe sample loan. Take a look at their cases here.
Pros:
  • Awesome camera
  • Powerful
  • Top-quality screen
Cons:
  • Similar to iPhone X
  • Battery life could be better
  • The price, eh?

Apple iPhone XS Smartphone Review

Apple has stuck with its "S" nomenclature even after its anniversary iPhone and has consequently followed the iPhone X with the iPhone XS. As with previous "S" models, the iPhone XS is more a technical refinement of its predecessor than a fundamental departure.
Pros:
  • bright and color-true OLED display
  • broad mobile network frequency coverage
  • impressive main camera
  • excellent craftsmanship
  • eSIM support (per update
  • dust and liquid-resistant
Cons:
  • non-expandable memory
  • no headphone jack
  • restricted NFC
  • only 12 months warranty
  • mediocre telephoto lens

Apple iPhone XS

The iPhone XS is a good phone, but I'm not awarding it our Editors' Choice. As I said at the beginning of this review, I think that with the 8, the XR, and the XS Max in Apple's lineup, the XS is in a less appealing place than some of the others.
Pros:
  • Excellent camera
  • Powerful processor
  • Fast networking
  • First mainstream dual-SIM phone in the US
Cons:
  • Expensive for the size and feature set

Apple iPhone XS Review

The Apple iPhone XS is a significant step forward for iPhones, but most iPhone buyers will probably prefer the XR or the XS Max. Glowing and glamorous, the Apple iPhone XS ($999) aims to be the sweet spot for iPhones this year. But while it's certainly an excellent phone, I find it to be the least distinguished of Apple's 2018 lineup. If the XS stood alone, I'd be judging it more highly. But it doesn't. I see where it fits in: The XS has a 2X zoom camera and an OLED screen, and it's not quite as big as the XS Max. But the Max is a bigger leap forward from previous iPhones in the Plus family, and a more striking device all around. Ultimately, I feel most people will want to pay an extra $100 for the iPhone XS Max, or save $250 on the iPhone XR. There's No Small iPhone Anymore At 5.65 by 2.79 by 0.30 inches (HWD), the iPhone XS is almost the exact same size as the iPhone X. Like the X, the design is basically a glass sandwich around metal. It has an edge-to-edge 5.8-inch, 19.5:9 OLED screen with the infamous notch at the top. I'm happy to see Apple finally getting rid of its gigantic bezels, but at 2.79 inch...
Pros:
  • Excellent camera
  • Powerful processor
  • Fast networking
  • First mainstream dual-SIM phone in the US
Cons:
  • Expensive for the size and feature set

iPhone XS review

This is the iPhone XS – pronounced ‘10-S', not ‘excess' as you might think. It looks identical to last year's iPhone X , and you might think that not a lot has changed – but it's inside where the differences lie.
Pros:
  • Smart HDR helps the camera
  • More powerful again
  • Fast operation in the hand
Cons:
  • Battery life not world-beating
  • Design not altered in a year
  • Still very expensive
