The EOS Rebel SL3 / EOS 250D blends a number of tried-and-tested features with a mount that accepts an endless array of lenses, and its small size, battery life and general performance are all solid. It's only a minor, and frankly not very exciting, update to the Rebel SL2 / EOS 200D, but this is at least reflected in the modest premium over that model.

Canon has a new entry-level DSLR, and it hasn’t changed my opinion of such cameras. You’re better off with mirrorless. The EOS Rebel SL3 ($600 body only, $700 with a kit lens) continues the popular line of small-as-possible DSLRs that started with the SL1 in 2013, but does little to justify the camera’s existence in 2019. The SL3 aims to bring Canon’s entry-level DSLR up to par with its entry-level mirrorless camera, the EOS M50 — and go no further. The SL3 and M50 are differentiated only by their bodies, lens mounts, and viewfinders. On the inside, they are all but identical. And unless you really need an optical viewfinder or battery life that can last a week, the M50 is the better buy. The Rebel SL3 is a minor upgrade over the older SL2. Canon EOS Rebel SL3 Review

The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 is one the smallest SLRs available, but its autofocus system struggles with fast-moving subjects. Canon's smallest SLR, the SL2, receives a minor upgrade in the form of the SL3 ($599.99, body only). The new edition has a more modern image processor and support for 4K video, but doesn't offer a lot of other upgrades. It's a solid option, though not quite as compact as mirrorless alternatives—which cuts down on the argument for its size. If you prefer an optical viewfinder it's a good camera, though not quite as capable as our Editors' Choice, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i. Small, But Still an SLR The SL3 is one of the smallest SLRs you can buy, but it's still an SLR. It measures 3.7 by 4.8 by 2.8 inches (HWD) and weighs 15.8 ounces without a lens attached. It's a little bit smaller all around than the Nikon D3500 (3.9 by 4.9 by 2.8 inches, 12.9 ounces), but bigger than a typical mirrorless camera, like Canon's own EOS M50 (3.5 by 4.6 by 2.3 inches, 13.8 ounces).
