Canon PowerShot G15

The Canon PowerShot G15 has had a lot of time to ponder its market position. It's been two whole years since the launch of the previous G12 model, and it's used that time wisely - the G15 is smaller, sports a new design and simultaneously crams in a far brighter aperture f/1.8-2.8 28-140mm...
Pros:
  • Wide aperture throughout zoom range is impressive
  • smaller than predecessor
  • great image quality straight from camera
  • raw capture
  • impressive autofocus in all lighting conditions
  • excellent stabilisation system
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • bulky
  • shorter zoom than some competitors
  • 85 per cent field-of-view in viewfinder is limiting and there's zero focus or settings feedback to the eye
  • high ISO settings still aren't all that
  • occasional "black out" issue

Awesome and well worth the wait

I had been waiting for an update to G12 and Canon hit a bulls eye with this camera. One could argue about G1X etc but I was looking for not just something more portable and handy for the situations when I did not want to lug my DSLR equipment around but something which would provide me with all the...
Pros:
  • Fast/accurate auto-focus
  • Good Image Quality
  • Good Image Stabilization
  • Good in Low Light
  • Great Zoom
  • Large Clear LCD
  • Short Lag Time

Fantastic low light level capability

Fantastic Camera, I purchased for low light level photography and it exceeds my expectations. Night time pictures of local Christmas are terrific.

Great camera!

I had a G9 before and purchased this one recently. What impress me is the picture quality. I compared it with my Canon 40D and hardly found any difference between them. Fast aperture is the one I like most, I shoot indoor without flash, the pictures are so bright and sharp and of course you need a...

great camera

Many "professional" reviews compare this camera to similar "large sensor" cameras and conclude that the large sensor cameras "win" - but you should ignore those reviews. The optics on this camera blow away the competition - there is no 5x zoom point-and-shoot camera with an F2.8 lens at maximum...
Pros:
  • good battery life
  • Good Low-Light Performance
  • Nice features/settings
  • excellent image quality
  • durable
  • Bright LCD
  • Lightweight/Portable
  • Simple controls/menu
  • easy to use
  • two custom settings
  • separate flash on/off control
Cons:
  • none

Excellent product. Rewarding to use.

I bought this product as a backup to my SLR kit and for good quality images when it is difficult to use an SLR. I have nightmares of walking to remote places only to find my camera has failed, my battery and backup are depleted etc. It happens occasionally. This camera is pretty small.
Pros:
  • Bright LCD
  • Comfortable Controls
  • Easy Setup
  • Easy To Use
  • Great Picture Quality
  • Strong Construction
Cons:
  • None To Speak Of

Simply Point and shoot

HD recording with stereo sound and a telephoto zoom lens is all you need on your camping trip. The performance of this camera will not disappoint you, because the focusing speed does not let you blink amidst a momentary shot.

Sophisticated compact with a viewfinder

I bought this camera as a 'take anywhere' to complement my Canon 7D DSLR. It's proved a more capable camera than I dared hope for. Image quality is excellent with RAW files offering all that you ask for from a compact.
