Great zoom and picture quality. Poor build and con
I am a smart phone camera user and I wanted to take a step up, take better quality photos. I was drawn to the SX740 because of the 40 X zoom and the 7.6 frames per second still shooting. Having had a chance to try the camera out I am impressed with the picture quality.

Another great Canon P&S
I have been using Canon since the early 80's, so I am biased towards them. This camera has improved on earlier P&S models with a dedicated network button. It is so much easier now to transfers photo's to your computer or whatever. The 40x zoom really needs a mono-pod at the least to keep it steady.

Great Camera for Hiking Trips
This small camera has a great zoom lens and lots of features. I would have given it a 5 star but the main negative I have found is the delay in focus when you zoom in on an object.

Canon PowerShot SX740 HS review
The SX740 HS makes some positive steps forward from the SX730 HS, and is capable of producing nice images and good-looking videos. It's a sound option for those who just want the camera to do all the work, although the absence of a viewfinder, touchscreen and raw shooting mode means it can't be said to offer especially good value for money compared to rivals.
Pros:
- Huge, stabilized zoom lens
- EOS-style user interface
- Images show nice colors
- 4K video reasonably detailed
- Fast autofocus system
- Good face detection AF
Cons:
- No EVF
- Screen not touch-sensitive
- Image quality compromised at longer focal lengths
- Effects of noise reduction and over-sharpening are visible
- No raw shooting
- Limited image quality control

All the optical zoom you could want, in a camera that'll easily slip into your jeans pocket...
Pros:
- 40x optical zoom
- 4K video
- Flip-forward screen
- Easy to use
Cons:
- Image quality not brilliant
- Can be sluggish to take a photo
- No touchscreen or EVF
- Can't shoot in Raw

Got unbelievable seats for Melissa ethridge concert usually $750 and up for free! So close you could almost reach out to her. Took this camera as it did so well for YouTube videos and regular photo and the zoom was amazing! But it was horrible ruined all my footage! Couldn't believe it for a canon.

Worst camera. I read the reviews, I researched it and I thought that I was getting a really good secondary camera. Awful video quality especially in law light. And an awful noise during video playback.I don't know, maybe the camera is good, just the camera that I got was problematic.
