Canon SX740 HS review
The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is an update to the SX730 HS from 2017. As upgrades go, it's on the conservative side, with Canon's newer DIGIC 8 processor now providing 4k video and 10fps continuous shooting, but everything else remaining pretty much the same as before.
Canon PowerShot SX740 HS
The SX740 HS makes some positive steps forward from the SX730 HS, and is capable of producing nice images and good-looking videos. It's a sound option for those who just want the camera to do all the work, although the absence of a viewfinder, touchscreen and raw shooting mode means it can't be said...- Huge

Disappointing - maybe I expected too much
Was hoping to use the camera when out and about and not wanting to carry any bag, just pop it in a pocket. Also wanting the reach of that long lens. I knew the quality at the long end might be compromised but found that all images, even wide angle were overly sharpened, full of artifacts and just...- Lightweight
- Simple Controls
- Poor image quality
Canon Powershot SX740HS Black SX740HS review
The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is almost identical to its predecessor the SX730 HS. However, an upgrade to the processing engine gives the new camera a faster continuous shooting rate and UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) video capability at 29.97/25fps.
Point & Shoot Excellence
I get a lot of use out of these little Canon Powershots because they do everything I need a camera for and didn't need to pay a fortune for a bunch of camera equipment that does the same thing.
Good but expected more
I like this camera but I don't love it yet. I used it on holiday recently and whilst the photos were good, they were about the same as the ones I took on my phone. I had a Canon about 10 years ago, which had lots of great settings and features that this one doesn't so I was a bit disappointed.
Great zoom and picture quality. Poor build and con
I am a smart phone camera user and I wanted to take a step up, take better quality photos. I was drawn to the SX740 because of the 40 X zoom and the 7.6 frames per second still shooting. Having had a chance to try the camera out I am impressed with the picture quality.
