Review: The Huawei P20 Pro
When we reviewed the Huawei Mate 10 Pro earlier in the year, we loved it and now we've got all that we loved about that and a superb camera as well we think this will give Apple, Samsung and others a very strong run for their money.- That camera
- hugely responsive
- great screen
- superb sound
- Bluetooth can be temperamental
- battery management needs a bit of coaching
- EMUI isn't for everyone
- no headphone jack
Huawei P20 Pro review: Is three cameras the magic number?
Huawei has been really impressing us with its P-range of smartphones for a while now and the P20 Pro is the latest entry into the series. The Chinese-brand has shunned its budget image and carved out a reputation for offering Apple-like hardware with Android software at a premium price that puts it...- Premium design
- Triple camera system
- Improved software
- Great battery life
- Design lacks originality
- UI still isn't perfect
Huawei P20 Pro review: A new phone camera king is born
Huawei's product output has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs over the last couple of years. But those software lows in the P8 and screen issues in the P10 have been used as educational stepping stones.- Stunning design with superb colour finishes
- Excellent battery life
- A camera that genuinely matches the best in class
- Impressive sound quality
- All the power and performance you'll need
- No wireless charging
- Face Unlock still miles behind Apple's equivalent
- The notch (can be software hidden
- Though
- ‘Portrait' bokeh still off the mark
- Some software foibles

Huawei P20 Pro: A tale of three cameras
Huawei P20 Pro: Huawei's P20 Pro has three cameras, but is that really necessary?- Excellent camera setup

- More expensive than Huawei P10 Plus
Huawei P20 Pro review
It’s been a long time since a phone of the Huawei P20 Pro’s quality came along to upset the Apple-Samsung duopoly we’ve all gotten used to. Having experienced its amazing triple lens camera, shimmering design and heavyweight performance for a fortnight now, I’m convinced it’s the best new phone of the year so far. Hell, I’ll go one better: it’s the best phone you can buy right now. When so many handsets offer pretty much the same thing right now, the P20 Pro deserves credit for doing a little bit more for less of your money. It’s the first Huawei handset to offer quality through and through. Sure, some software-related rough edges remain but they’re tolerable at worst and totally eradicable if you have the knowhow. Striking just the right balance between borrowed inspiration and genuine innovation, the Huawei P20 Pro is a telephonic tour de force. On/off notch The Huawei P20 Pro fills the front of the phone with screen and just like the iPhone X, there is a notch removed for the camera. However, Huawei's notch is much smaller and if you prefer, you can turn the notch look off by having a black bar appear across the top, making it invisible to...
Huawei P20 Pro review – the three-camera iPhone killer
With the P20 Pro Huawei has finally produced something that I would recommend over competitors regardless of the price. While not cheap, costing £800, in some ways you get a better experience than rivals costing £200 more.- long battery life
- great design
- brilliant camera
- good screen
- stand-out colour options
- water resistance
- Android 8.1 Oreo
- great performance
- no headphone socket
- no microSD card slot
- no wireless charging
- screen not the highest resolution
- no Bluetooth 5 support
Huawei P20 Pro review: A three-eyed monster of a smartphone
A highly functional top-end smartphone that's brilliantly positioned to rival the Galaxy S9 and iPhone X. Sensible compromises mean it performs where it counts, offering a premium experience at a killer price.- Unrivalled camera functionality
- Eye-catching design
- Excellent battery life
- Highly customisable interface
- Cheaper than the competition
- An expensive upgrade for P10 owners
