Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm F1.8S Lens JMA102DA review
The Nikon Z 35mm F1.8 S is a solid medium-wideangle lens for the Z series, which offers excellent sharpness and pleasant handling characteristics on the Z6 and Z7. Low light fans might miss a wider aperture, and optically, the 35mm cannot compete with its (cheaper) cousin the Z 50mm f1.8 S, but for...
Pros:
- Low-light or wide-aperture fans that need sharp images at fast apertures
Cons:
- Portrait fans who might be bothered by the colored fringing in out of focus areas

Low light fans might miss a wider aperture, and optically, the 35mm cannot compete with its (cheaper) cousin the Z 50mm f1.8 S, but for Nikon Z shooters that need wide-aperture sharpness, the Z 35mm F1.8 S is definitely worth looking at.

Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S lens
Fitted to the Z7 camera body, this lens is great for street photography, being fast, weather-resistant and providing wide enough coverage to encompass some of the subjects’ environment while enabling the photographer to get reasonably close to subjects.

Nikon Z 35mm f/1.8 S
Using the Nikon Z 7 with the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S lens is a great experience. It’s well balanced in its body design, and it’s good to see that it shares the same level of weatherproofing as the Z 7 body.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S Lens - Brand New review
What a dilemma. Discounting the price, this is an amazing lens that reaches the very highest level of quality. However, there are many lenses not that far behind, almost as fast, even at f/1.4 where the choice widens considerably. These are a fraction of the price of the Nikkor Z.
Pros:
- Outstanding sharpness, Virtually zero CA, Excellent flare resistance, Excellent handling, Quality manufacture, Custom functions for L-Fn button, Sublime handling of point light sources, Virtually no distortion, Beautiful bokeh effects
Cons:
- Huge price tag, Weight, Screw thread lens hood

Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm F/1.8S Lens JMA102DA review
Nikon’s full-frame Z-series f/1.8 primes are very impressive as a group and the Nikkor Z 35mm F1.8 S, which was the first to be introduced, makes a great addition to your kit bag.
Pros:
- Compact design, Superb image quality, Near silent operation in video
Cons:
- Expensive, but quality doesn't come cheap, Needs the correct embedded profiles to remove vignetting at wide apertures
