Nikon Z DX 24mm f/1.7 Review | A Classic 35mm Prime For Crop Sensors

To sum up this whole review, I need only repeat that previous statement about competitors: Nikon did a perfect job of filling a niche need in the APSC lens market. A 24mm prime on a 1.5x crop is a perfect all-around lens, and I think almost every photographer should have one.

Nikkor Z DX 24mm f/1.7 review – the perfect pocket partner

The Nikkor Z DX 24mm f/1.4 lens offers extremely sharp detail in a small, lightweight package. Although you lose the flexibility of having a zoom lens, the level of detail more than makes it for this, and the approximate 35mm equivalent field of view makes it a great lens for everything from street...
Pros:
  • Small and Lightweight, Affordable, Extremely sharp and detailed - especially for the price
Cons:
  • Lacks the flexibility of a zoom, Plastic rear mount

Nikon Z DX 24mm f1.7 Review: A Useful Everyday Lens

Nikon has been steadily releasing full-frame Z-mount lenses over the last 2 years. At the time of publication of this article, Nikon USA lists 36 such lenses . However, in sharp contrast, only 6 DX lenses manufactured by Nikon are in the mirrorless Z-mount.

Pairing the Nikon Z DX 24mm f1.7 lens with such cameras takes the combined weight to barely 20oz (550g) or so, Not that pricey at...
Cons:
  • No weather sealing, No Vibration Reduction. This isn’t great, as none of the current DX Z-mount cameras have built-in stabilization in them. You’re going to need steady hands at lower shutter speeds, I wish it had an SE version to pair with the vintage looks of the Nikon Zfc
