This was a purchase to replace my previous much loved Philips iron and while I've now got used to it I much prefer my old iron. Firstly a simple design issue, (in my opinion) the iron is black and the water tank is also black making it incredibly difficult to see the water level when initially filling and when topping up. Although this iron is supposed to be as powerful as my old one it doesn't feel as responsive. I will persevere with the iron.

After great satisfaction with previous Philips irons, I was very disappointed with this model. The colour made the icons difficult to distinguish (I am 76!) and although I descaled regularly, the iron started to spit in use. The blanket suggestion of using tap water regardless of local water conditions is not helpful. However, I have replaced this model with a different one (not black!) and hope for some improvement.

I have been buying Philips steam irons for over 35 years and they have always impressed me. This iron was the worst product I have purchased and was returned the same day. The build seems flimsy and it is not built to same standard as the last Philips iron I purchased 6 years ago. I read a review that said this iron was noisy. How can an iron be noisy? Well this one is - it constantly pops,clicks,pings and creaks and I now I understand what they meant. Finally despite setting the temperature to high, the drip stop system did not work.The iron constantly spat water out, leaving the clothes with considerable streaks of water and wet patches. When the iron was placed on its heel, water dripped out from the base of the sole plate. There was also very little steam in general and a weak steam shot. Very unimpressed and I now need to find a replacement, which will not be another Philips

Quite a large iron but not heavy. Irons well but on initial use it did suffer from water dripping when using steam. Second use seems OK but further use required to confirm that it is functioning correctly. Cannot recommend while doubt over dripping particularly as being non-drip is one of its stated features. Good flex length and storage.

Nice and easy to use lightweight we use demineralised water which works fine without a anti scale device but the dial could be clearer
