Let's just get this out of the way now. Touchwiz; you either love it or hate it. My first Android smartphone was the original Samsung Galaxy S I9000 "iPhone killer". I didn't mind TouchWiz back then as I had nothing to compare it to, plus it didn't feel that heavy.

4.8″ HD Super AMOLED screen is bright with vibrant colours; MicroSD card slot up to 64GB; Great point-and-shoot camera with various modes; Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box

Only 8GB on board storage; Device is slippery and a bit top heavy; Doesn't sit flat due to camera lens; Navigation keys are reversed

Last year, after launching the hot-selling GALAXY S4, Samsung went on to create spin-offs of their flagship device, one of which was the GALAXY S4 Zoom that was designed to cater to the crowd who loves taking photos with their smartphones.

10x optical zoom; Sturdy design; Snappy performance

Battery life; Limited manual control

The Galaxy K Zoom 10x optical zoom camera hopes to send your compact to the scrapheap

It's probably a long time since you owned a phone as chunky as this, so it will take a bit of getting used to. Because of its size, it feels like a step backwards in terms of design, but if it means you don't need to take a camera everywhere you go, perhaps that's not such a problem.

Since the launch of the Big.Little architecture, there are two different SoC philosophies: on the one hand, for example, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 801, which relies on four equivalent CPU cores, on the other hand, solutions such as the Galaxy K zoom's Exynos 5260 with its different CPU types.

high processing quality; camera with clearly above-average results; very good battery life; faster SoC; battery exchangeable; memory expandable

no tripod thread; bulkier than its predecessor when used as camera; no RAW support; large case and high weight
