Samsung T7 Touch Portable SSD - 1TB Silver MU-PC1T0S/WW review
Performance-wise, the new Samsung T7 and T7 Touch Portable SSDs are not earth-shattering. They are both not the most affordable on the market, either, costing significantly more than the Crucial X8 , for example.
Pros:
- Hardware encryption with an optional integrated fingerprint scanner, Compact and rugged design, USB 3.2 Gen 2-Class performance, Includes both USB-C and compatible cables
Cons:
- Write speed reduction during extended operations, More expensive than similar portable SSDs

The Samsung T7 Touch is a great little external drive that’s small and robust enough to be carried wherever you need to use it for storage or as a working drive. It’s perfect for keeping a laptop’s memory clear and running smoothly while you store and edit stills or video.
Pros:
- Small and lightweight, Metal body, Fast file transfer
Cons:
- Initial issues with the fingerprint recognition set up software

Samsung T7 Touch Portable SSD review: Gotta go fast
As opposed to Samsung’s X5 SSD, the T7 veers much closer to the template laid out by the T5 to both its success and peril. There are faster and lighter SSDs out there but Samsung’s T5 has been our go-to for the last few years now for good reason. It’s simple, it’s not that expensive for portable SSD storage and as far as form-factors go, it’s hard to beat.
Pros:
- Sleek form-faster
- Fast transfer speeds
Cons:
- Expensive per-GB
- Not a huge upgrade on T5
