I really wanted to love this microphone. Everyone raves about it and how wonderful it is, but even with try after try I just couldn't get it to work correctly. I've been looking for a microphone for podcasting and audiobook narration.

I bought this mic to record various sources such as guitars, drums and vocals. It works really well on most sources I have tried it on and is great for male vox especially. I'm fairly certain this mic will be constantly in use in my studio for the foreseeable future.
I read so much positive reviews on this mic, so I decided to make the purchase. I have to say the SM7B has a smooth balanced response for vocals. I haven't used it on any other sources, but I'm pretty sure it will perform well on drums and guitar as well. Very satisfied with this mic.
As a recording vocalist, I must say that the Shure SM7 microphone provides outstanding clarity, warmth and presence. I was very amazed at its transparent and lush, open sound characteristics. I would defiantly recommend this product to any recording musician.
I am retired, after over 30 years, from the music industry. I worked as an engineer and live soundman. I own over 60 mics myself, about every brand available, from AKG, Sennheiser, Neumann, EV, Pelouso, Blue, Heil, etc. Being the curious type I've tried them all on my rigs.
this mic is what i've been dreaming of. lots of noise rejection and smoooth even tone. you will need a strong preamp, but if you're looking seriously at this mic you probably are stepping up your studio game. the seller was amazing as well. they just called me and made sure i was happy with the mic.

Microphone Type: Dynamic Polar Pattern: Cardioid Frequency Response: 50Hz-20kHz Impedance: 150 ohms Bass rolloff and mid-range emphasis (presence boost) controls
Everything you've heard is true about the sound and quality but the output is very low. Even with a CL-1 Cloudlifter I find I'm barely getting a usable signal. Clearly I need to invest in a pre-amp and that's an investment you should add into your budget.
I have ordered 2 Shure mic for our studios. Its actually looking great and working fine. Both the products delivered on time. Only thing is I cannot order 2 mics from same ID.
