I love this lens! It's been my go-to for my Sony a6000. I think it's a pretty good lens in terms of quality and cost for someone who's starting out with photography. The bokeh is pretty nice. I've gotten a lot of compliments on the shots I've taken with this lens. So happy I decided to get it!

Sigma AF 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM (Nikon DX) - Review / Test Report

On APS-C digital cameras, things look a bit different though. To achieve the field of view of a normal prime, it takes a lens in the range of 30mm to 35mm, preferably a fast one. Many systems feature a native 35mm f/1.4 lens, however these are usually full frame lenses targeting professional users.

I've not used the lens too much yet, but seems pretty god in operation. Focus & quality appear good, & the large aperture is good for low light photography. The physical size is considerably more than the kit zoom supplied with the camera, so it loses something of it's "compact" convenience.

Must buy Prime for A6500

Disregard any reviews talking trash about this lens. Any issues with AF are certainly user error. If you use C-AF Wide w/Continuous Shooting, you get amazingly fast and accurate PDAF from f/1.4-f/8. Beyond f/8 youre stuck with Contrast Detect AF, which is fine but I try to generally stay below f/8.

I had the original of this lens, but managed to get it damaged. This newer version is as good or better than the original.

Absolutely

This was my first lens for my a6300 almost 6 months ago. I was torn between this and sonys 35mm 1.8, but the crisp results from this lens were worth the distortion! Focusing can be slow, and the fly by wire isn't for me, but it's a good focal length that you can get a wide variety of shots with.
Pros:
  • Amazing depth
  • Consistent Output
  • Durable
  • Lightweight
  • Sharp photos
Cons:
  • Slow Focus

Good challenging lens

To have an aperture so wide is nice. I have not really had the time to fully evaluate the lens. It hunts when focusing on the A6300, but maybe I should use another AF setting. Will have to experiment now. God lens, but it needs some work to learn and use it at its best.
