Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S review: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
Sony Ericsson follows up its ultrastylish Xperia Arc with the Xperia Arc S, a slightly faster version of the posh European model that runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and rocks a powerful camera. Its high price, single-core CPU, and slow data speeds will leave Android experts wanting more. The first Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc turned heads with its fashionable design, razor-thin good looks, and Android Gingerbread software. Now Sony Ericsson has launched a flashier replacement, but oh, what a difference a few months makes. Despite a faster processor and two exciting new color options, splurging on the unlocked $439.99 Xperia Arc S is an even tougher argument to make.
Pros:
- The Sony Xperia Arc S flaunts a slim, attractive design, comes in multiple colors, runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, boasts a powerful camera, and records 720p HD video.
Cons:
- Many of the phone's buttons are tiny and hard to press, plus its unlocked sticker price is pretty steep, especially for a single-core handset that lacks Ice Cream Sandwich.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc S
The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc S is basically the XPERIA Arc with a faster processor, slightly upgraded software and an 'S' tagged onto the end of its name. It remains a good phone but its plagued by the same issues as its predecessor: that being disappointing build quality. Apple's iPhone 4S seems to have started an odd trend in the mobile phone world. Motorola, HTC and now Sony Ericsson have all followed Apple's lead by releasing phones that look identical to previous models. Sony Ericsson's "new" effort is the XPERIA Arc S — it's basically the XPERIA Arc with a faster processor, slightly upgraded software and, of course, an 'S' tagged onto the end of its name.
Pros:
- Distinctive, unique design
- Excellent camera
- Great screen
Cons:
- Tiny buttons
- Disappointing build quality
- Almost identical to original

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S review: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
Basically the same phone that Sony Ericsson released at the start of the year, the Arc S is a good phone that may struggle to stand out amongst the crowd in an excellent year of releases. Sony Ericsson has made a huge splash with its Android devices this year, shrugging off the memories of the poorly performing Xperia X10 and delivering a handful of really attractive and unique smartphones. The Xperia Arc S is basically a re-release, however, pairing the features and design of the original Arc with a faster 1.4GHz processor and Telstra Next G compatibility.
Pros:
- Awesome screen
- HDMI-out
- Good Facebook integration throughout system.
Cons:
- Low internal storage
- Awkward headphone position
- Same design we saw six months ago.
