Love it

All-in-all I 100% highly recommend this drive. I have always been a fan of WD's quality in products. They do not let me down with this one. Yet another great WD product!

Reliable; Have never had any issue with losing data or something not working, aside from the firewire conking out randomly at one point; Fast, Tons of storage, love it

Firewire went out on me recently, working on figuring out why..; otherwise it's great

A Fantastic External Hard Drive

This hard drive is extremely fast (around 60-70Mbs per second) when using the firewire cord. The software is also awesome. The software that comes with it has help topics for absolutely everything about it, so you will always know what to do.

Western Digital My Book Studio Edition WDH1Q5000 500 GB: Enough with the light!

Not a bad drive but niggles let it down

Multiple connections; light; nice finish; easy to use

Annoying light; poor power button; only vertical

Western Digital My Book Studio Edition (1TB)

Western Digital's My Book Studio Edition is quite possibly the sexiest external hard drive we've seen, if we're allowed to call external hard drives that. The powdered silver casing is one of luxury, a single stretched ovoid line lit by white LEDs calmly and serenely tracks back and forth when it's...

No fans; Little heat; Huge capacity; Attractive design; Five year warranty; Fully featured Mac software

Capacity indicator isn't accurate; Not the fastest eSATA drive

REVIEW: WD My Book Studio

The MyBook Studio doesn't have a display showing free space, either, and we're disappointed WD hasn't catered for the latest generation of laptops with Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 ports. Equally disappointing is the lack of a dedicated on/off switch.

"Stylish and Quick - The perfect external HDD"

I bought this HDD about a year ago now and I have not been disappointed since. Whilst searching the market for the best product I was amazed at the number of external hard drives which are not Mac OSX compatible, this HDD was one of the only ones available back then which was.

Looks great on your desk as well as being extremely accessible

Quite bulky in comparison to some modern competition

Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II

If you think bigger is better when it comes to storage space, you might be interested in Western Digital's My Book Studio Edition II , which combines two 3TB drives in a RAID 0 setup for a whopping 6TB of data storage.

Sleek design; Lots of storage space; 5-year limited warranty

Unimpressive write speeds

WD My Book Studio Edition II (6TB)

While for some of us, the ability for our hard drive to be able to resist sniper fire underwater is a going concern ( see iOSafe Rugged Portable ), most of us are really just in the market for as much storage space as we can afford.

Slowish write speeds
