Time Machine (TM) Volume

I bought this to replace a 1Tb Iomega USB drive which was full. I copied all previous backups to the new WD Volume, repaired all permissions and it is performing superbly well. The increased speed of the FW800 transfers make for rapid backups of my Parallels virtual drives.

Western Digital My Book Studio Edition

The PC in the typical home is becoming the hub for all our media – music, photos and videos, so it pays to have as much backup storage has possible. The My Book range is about at attractive as current external hard drives get.

Huge capacity; plenty of options

Quite expensive

Western Digital My Book Studio Edition (1TB)

The My Book Studio Edition is a welcome addition to the My Book family, and should find a home on many Mac and PC users' desks.

No fans; Little heat; Huge capacity; Attractive design; Five year warranty; Fully featured Mac software

Capacity indicator isn't accurate; Not the fastest eSATA drive

Western Digital My Book Studio Edition (1TB)

Better quality than what you see in the pictures

Watch YouTube Review I made. It is a pretty good external harddrive , specially for us who have a Mac and are looking for a good FireWire harddrive, it is way faster than a USB external harddrive.

I have a few of these daisy chained together. Would buy again, although FW has been superseded, they still work perfectly for my Mac Pro 5,1

"Stylish and Quick - The perfect external HDD"

I bought this HDD about a year ago now and I have not been disappointed since. Whilst searching the market for the best product I was amazed at the number of external hard drives which are not Mac OSX compatible, this HDD was one of the only ones available back then which was.

Looks great on your desk as well as being extremely accessible

Quite bulky in comparison to some modern competition

Surprised to find a 3TB Firewire drive available for the price (ca £146). Drive arrived fairly promptly, certainly within the week. I had no urgent need for it so this was fine. The package included the drive itself, a FW 800 cable and a USB cable, a power cable with adapters for a variety of...
