The 10th-gen iPad is a great tablet, but one that is a little too expensive for what it is, particularly in the UK. It finally brings Apple’s lower-end tablet up to scratch with the rest of the line, with a more modern design. It is responsive, lasts a long time and is well made.
Pros:
- Pros: more modern design, good performance, good battery life, good screen, stereo speakers, USB-C, iPadOS with long support life, plenty of apps, recycled aluminium, great web camera.
Cons:
- Cons: expensive, no multi-user support, relatively small storage on the starting model with no way to add more, screen gap, not compatible with case accessories made for other iPad models.

Once upon a time, Apple offered just one iPad model. If that were the case today—if this was the only iPad—it would be an easy recommendation. It would be the best tablet you could buy, for any use case. However, this is one of six distinct iPad models.
Pros:
- Extremely strong performance for a device at this price, The reduced-bezel design and larger screen are a step up over the last iPad, Expect decently long software support from Apple, USB-C is a welcome change, The front-facing camera has been moved to a much more sensible place

A year ago, I thought each of the four tablets in the iPad lineup was differentiated well from the others, and it was fairly easy to see what features you got as things got more expensive. The new 10th-generation iPad throws a wrench in things, though.

The New iPad Is Just a Pretty Face With USB-C
What was once a basic and affordable entry-level tablet now feels anything but.
Pros:
- Modern redesign with fun colors. Bigger display. Touch ID integrated into power button. USB-C port. Landscape front-facing camera. 5G support. Upgraded rear camera. Faster chip. Works with Magic Keyboard Folio.
Cons:
- Expensive for a base iPad, especially with Apple's accessories. Only compatible with first-gen Apple Pencil. Display isn’t fully laminated. No headphone jack.
